US citizen living in MXI understand. I just saw the >>USA<< flag and figured differently. I get a kick out of the Chinese companies who offer a 100% return policy. Same difference.
This is terrible news for me, because I am in the exact situation that you were in, however I paid via Credit Card so I cannot open a PayPal dispute to get his attention.John replied just now by email - in response to the PayPal dispute I initiated. Its unfortunate this is the only way to get a reply. But in fairness to him, I want to clarify that he did finally reply.
No idea what to do next. I am very disappointed.
If he isn't going to send the download links, maybe he should just offer free downloads of this old software. Otherwise he is literally just taking people's money. It is borderline fraud.

Contact your Credit Card company and dispute the payment. They will reverse it.
So that you and everyone is aware, when John replied to me with the links, I replied back an told him that the problem was getting attention on DIYaudio.com. I also included this discussion thread in the PayPal dispute as evidence of the problem. So, there is absolutely no question that he is aware it is a problem with others. He did not comment.
He did not comment.
If he doesn't want to sell software anymore, he should either take it offline or provide free downloads.
Good news!
No, I have not received a reply with a link. However, I discovered another way to download the software.
In the first email, way at the bottom, there is the statement "You can always find out the current status of your order by going to" and then a link. If you follow that link, it takes you to your order page, where no order status is displayed and there is essentially no useful information, except way at the bottom again there is another statement "If you would like to download items purchased by credit card, enter the credit card number you used for your purchase. Your card will not be charged". I entered my CC # and clicked submit, and then a download link appeared way up in the top right corner of the page.
So, anyone who orders software via CC, this is the trick you need to use to get it (if your download link never shows up and your emails go unanswered).
