Cheap ones are $20. Expensive $100.
Here is expensive very high quality, post #227.

1. thanks everyone for the replies, they were really helpful!
2. i think i will just build a single ended to balanced circuit for my sdac i already have, but it came with an o2 in the box so i will have to see if i can remove it without cutting something

Conversion of single ended to balanced won't add much, on the contrary. Making the DAC having balanced outputs is work but one learns a lot.
Kicking in an open door alarm: of course it is most effective to buy/build/choose devices that already both are balanced (or both unbalanced) 🙂 Any other combination is called a "system choice" so error by own choice. The challenge is then to make the partners work together which costs time, energy, ingenuity and elbow sweat.

Am I missing something or is there a reason Topping D10B (balanced) could not work out-of-the-box for OP's needs?
You are a genius 🙂
OP wrote D10. A useless thread it seems. Easiest solution is the suggestion of bohrok2610. The budget DAC Topping D10B connected balanced to the KGSSHV. Solved for 139 Euro.
Once becomes cynical with time when typenames are written wrong, questions are illogical etc. Now the inclusion of a "sdac" whatever that may be that is "in the box with o2" and of course not a single picture of the stuff in question. Are we supposed to be Mossad like investigators or what?

yeah im used for posting in headphone threads where everyone knows what im talking about, sorry. i have an amp dac combo box which includes the sdac dac and the o2 ampYou are a genius 🙂

Ok Mark, please also provide the photos of the amp DAC combo box of BadgerMcBadger and tell if things are balanced internally. Then a detailed description with high res pictures how he can modify the devices and a cost estimation.
Don't have that. Did find some version of a schematic of the kgsshv HPA to be driven. Lowest cost would of course be go unbalanced, or else passive balanced. Considering the expected SQ of sdac (AK4452 based design), not sure it makes sense to throw good money after bad.
That said, cheap and easy way to balance would probably be with 'budget' transformers. No +-15v required, simple to implement, etc. https://www.aliexpress.com/wholesal...15042005&SearchText=audio+transformer+10k+600

part of the reason i want to build a dac is to gain some experience with soldering before building the high voltage kgsshv. i think i will probably buy the dorati NOS dac kit someone linked and add xlr outputs to thatDon't have that. That "someone" is the seller of the device, just that you know. Steve Jobs always was very positive when Apple products were discussed.
That device is different in various aspects from the Topping D10 you mentioned. Thinking/brainstorming is best done before posting.
