Too late mates, 5m cable is on its way. I will try to see if there is any difference, but that is very difficult to do properly so it will have to be improperly unless anyone knows an easy way.

I'm just totally baffled anyone would even ask such a silly question? - any difference would be purely down to your imagination, and you would never tell any difference in double-blind tests.

There are no silly questions. I for one am pleased he asked a question and got a sensible answer before the thread descended into the usual chaos that happens here!
Just for the record: If someone is confused about (say) cables, the correct thing is to explain things rather than dissing them for the confusion.
That actualy was what I was implying NigelI'm just totally baffled anyone would even ask such a silly question? - any difference would be purely down to your imagination, and you would never tell any difference in double-blind tests.
You guys are scare mongering with this driving cable crap, the OP's NP30 uses NE5532 for it's output and capable of up to 60mA.
Sure if it had a whippy tube output stage then your points could be valid, so don't tar everything with the same brush
Cheers George

I wouldn't think 5 meters would be a problem. I've run over 30 meters of "microphone cable" between crossover and amp in two different houses, with different crossovers. No problems, and sounds just fine.
There are no silly questions. Sadly, in audio there are lots of silly answers. Having seen silly answers elsewhere, it was wise to ask the question here and get sensible answers.
