I had a discussion * (on the local forum they think I'm insane) about whether this device plays at 10Hz because I feel vibrations at 10 and below 10Hz (without any measurement) - I'm not a superman - I'm just trained to feel the vibrations in my head and body.... :D

so it goes from 10hz to 20khz nice

As a previous member of DAK (acoustic society) I had the opportunity to see the setup used at a local university which proved that our hearing is not limited to 20Hz but do go to (at least) 10Hz (!)
Suffice to say, it is not at all trivial to verify, as all visual and physical (structural vibration) stimuli has to be truly eliminated. Other problems include - as anyone familiar with the Fletcher-Munson hearing curves will know - that not only is the hearing sensitivity low, but also very close to the actual pain threshold at very low frequencies.

That might however not rule out that you did not hear it but just felt some good vibrations ;)

I'm not sure if I understood (like always) but here are few pictures from my build.
For anyone who is considering this preamp - make sure you put the very best wiring and connectors. It is quite easy to hear differences from different rca connectors, for example.

A new Iron Pumpkin SE is born

Hello all together, this is my first post ever.

I have finished my Iron Pumpin SE around one month ago.
It was a very easy build, as everything was very well prepared by ZM.
I outsourced the trafos so i could use a smaller chassis.
Gain is switchable for balance control and easier use.
Chassis is a Modu Galaxy 3HE 330x280. Hook up wire is a Neotech 30awg pure solid core silver wire teflon isolated.
How does it sound? Lets quote Susumu Sakuma: "But the most important goal is
not 'power', but 'energy' and 'frame of tone' and this preamp preserves the energy
as ZM said and sounds great in every way. I'm thrilled.
Thank you ZenMod

Ralf

P.S. I added the sinks on Q1 and Q2 later, as i forgot them in the beginning, but nothing happened.
Does another of the transistors need a sink?

I bought this from chakija, really looking forward to getting it. It looks like excellent craftmanship. I have wanted to try this Iron Pumpkin for a while, but have decided to take this opportunity as my projects tend to take a long time to finish (still have SissySIT to finish). So self-knowledge is good in this case and enjoyment in listening will come sooner this time.
What we call holiday pay is coming soon (here it is always given in May) so I have endulged for a gift for myself.
