Iron Pre Essentials Kits For The DIYA Store - Register Your Interest

My "Lazy S Bush" has rather high Rin as I remember but I am satisfied with sound so far but nice to know there is a "tweak".
It was just when compared to B1-Korg then treble from Iron-Pre is more "crisp"......not as "rounded" as Korg (which still sounds nice).
Taking about Rin for power amp I looked at an amp schematic a friend of my has purchased (schematic attached). The Rin of this amp seems to be as low as 820R. I guess that would change the sound of Iron-Pre. 820R is so far the lowest Rin I have experienced from a power amp. Seems to be an amp with no feedback with SE input stage and PP output stage and no caps in signal path and with some kind of servo. With all "bipolar" I would expect some higher harmonics distortion so not good for this forum......and also "off topic" I know......but it was just because we talked a bit about Rin 🙂

^ Yes, they are all sold from the first round.

I am not showing that you received an e-mail for notification that you could purchase. They all sold before we got to you.

So, you'll get an e-mail 'soon' with a notification / opportunity to purchase a kit from the second round. I am not sure if your code will stay the same or not. So, please follow the instructions carefully when you get your notice.

Still waiting for some parts, but am getting somewhere 😀

Nicely laid out!

I've gone the "build your own box" route, which has forced me to up my lack of machinist game. For the last month or so I've had an open casket on the floor without a top or front panel. But it sings to me!

"Oh, it's quite operational."

For the Balanced pre, I did find a 4-gang pot, so I've got one knob to turn. There was no way my family was going to accept a dual Zen Amounts approach.

Admittedly, I am not good at metal work an glad that Modushop put together a case. I might still go down the 4-gang volume control or Muse as it is a bit of a pain to have to adjust two potentiometers (trying to stay within the 20% range 😜). Already had the Alps Velvet Blues lying around to try out the Iron Pre and compare it to the DSG3.
You will find that an interesting comparison.

these Donuts are good for small Gainclone

didn't I stressed enough times that smaller (but big enough) ones are better - likely to end with no interaction between mains and signal xformer?

see this pic, as example of (unexpected) problems - Papadonuts induced hum in preamp output even when I moved them in another room

Pa probably bought them as hum generators, not power xformers

:devilr:

Mine look bigger than they are (only 60VA 😁). I might have to shield the Cinemags though.

That **** ain’t the trannies. It is common knowledge that sea ranch itself hums due to Pa’s lovely tunes over the years
