See here: https://wilson-benesch.com/I’m doing research for a possible build but there is no information on this outside of subwoofer use. I’m wondering why no one inverts one of two woofers in their 3way speaker? I’ll attach a rough sketch.
I can see a huge potential drawback being mechanical noise. The only quiet woofer I’ve used is the Acoustic Elegance TD15h.
Another drawback in this drawing is the bottom woofer is not time aligned, although that may be a nonissue in a 3.5 way design?
Is the reduced 2nd harmonic distortion worth it if mechanical noise can be overcome?

It was done to reduce mechanical/electrical distortion. And to increase power handling /headroom.That’s clever. I kind of like it.
These are rather large, Cinema speakers.
Using 2/4 TAD 1603, and 2 TAD TD-4002/Z one for each horn.
Having the "famous TSC-1118SW covering the bottom end in singles or multiples.

Trying to balance HD, IMD, and cost is also imperfect 😎4 cylinder engines don't have perfect balance but that doesn't mean they're not worth using.
I saw some drivers with good HD, but IMD suffered.
I saw others with good IMD, but HD suffered.
I then saw Purifi drivers with good HD and IMD, but cost suffered. Ha.
