Of course ... that's why I chose to devote my life to DIY ... pursuing the TDA1541A, class D amps and Dual 1218 mods.People thinking that cheap pawnshop quality stuff is worth drooling over must certainly live a very empty, hollow life.
Actually ... you're on to something in one part of your remark.I don't get the point here. Did we have a big fire in the storage unit and this is inventory photos for insurance? A Radio Shack CD player is supposed to be desirable or something? Genuinely confused on this end.
Except that traditional "fire" still happens in the standard three phases of matter.
BTW: Why do y'all keep comin' back to the RS CD3400. Some sort of inner desire ... maybe ... like the ugly girl you picked up drunk. But cont. to fantasize about for years afterward.
OUCHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
In any case, MOST of these photos (esp software) is worth A LOT. And I mean a sh-tload. Maybe priceless.
OUCHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

I put some Comlinear CLC5523 chips on my (now defunct) website and was bombarded by interest from several universities and two defense contractors.
So here we have hollowman walking around in public with his pathology hanging out.
If nothing else, I suppose this is a clear illustration of the shared ancestry of the words "pathology" and "pathos."

Jack, head down to The Container Store and have a look at their clear plastic shoe boxes. They have latching lids and are molded to stack perfectly. Best of all TCS sells them twelve at a time, in an easy to transport cardboard box.

But none of it looks like Radio Shack to me.

The only place you could get an LM7805 on a Sunday afternoon.
I still have some RS proto-boards and 9V battery holders I bought before they went tapioca. Probably a roll or two of their speaker-wire (which one Stereophile contributor told me was actually pretty good!)

Components are one thing. If you mentioned Realistic in the ubiquitous 80's hifi shop, you were looked at sideways.
Except for that "amazing" portable CD player, of course... 🙄
Thanks for the link. That was a good read. And a good reminder of how laughable hifi reviews are.
I remember some animated discussions about that thing on CompuServe back in the day (at around 2400 baud, heh).
They had a fun audio forum there, with a bunch of familiar names: Corey Greenberg, E. Brad Meyer, Michael Fremer, Tyll Hertsens, Ken Kantor & many others. Reminded me a lot of this place, or rather vice versa.
