We need a ‘smack forehead’ emoji. And he can hear the difference between leaded and lead free solder in an amplifier!
Typical Colloms guff-guff.
🤣🤣🤣
It's obvious what needs to be inserted. People believe in their ears, especially when shelling big bucks for a system tasked to provide them with listening pleasure.
And Mr. Colloms and his posse is there to help emptying their pockets. I would not mind, after all even hyenas have a well defined positive role in the planet ecosystem, as long as the perpetrators don't attempt creating their own, private, physics in the process.
I first met Martin Collums back in 1972 in London. I looked him up, and we had a pleasant discussion. I have followed his work ever since. Some of us actually work toward improving audio, rather than just criticizing its excesses.
Greetings Mr JC, and many thanks for your enormous contributions to the audio industry over the years - and +1 to your Martin Collums comments
But when they do and someone calls them out on it, they will call that person troll or noise. That's when you know the call out was accurate.as long as the perpetrators don't attempt creating their own, private, physics in the process.

For that, lets talk about your listening room acoustics. 📐🪚🔨🔈👂actually work toward improving audio, rather than just criticizing its excesses
At 10:00 in that video, it shows Martin Colloms' listening room. It sure has a lot of glass surfaces in the front and front/side. Bare ceiling and thin rugs... 🤔interview by The Audiophile Society
I only watched it from 10:00 on, what was said made perfect sense to me…….but there again I’m a outsider!
maybe a couple shameless magico plugs but I didn’t get the feeling he was trying to sell anything……..this whole “must be a shill if he doesn’t think like me“ is rather tiresome.

Bob, probably one exposure is Ok. After a decade you do give up on some reviewers as you realise what they are saying just doesn't translate to your world.

Actually Kal I like. He's not afraid to experiment and messes with multichannel stuff. His choice of head gear I won't comment on.
One picture is worth thousand words. Couple of thick rugs on the floor (but lots of bare walls and ceiling) is something I expected to see from a novice stereophile but from someone of his supposed status is rather surprising. 😲He said he got a couple of thick rugs to dampen the room.
Trust your ears, not the feeling.but I didn’t get the feeling he was trying to sell anything
Some folks like a lively room. My neighbour has quite as set up on wooden floors and minimal damping. His an opera/classical nut. (Linn + van den Hul cart, big KEF’s). You can’t expect people to not have subjective preferences. It’s when they use bogus technical arguments or make outrageous claims that I have a problem.
Unfortunately, as pointed out by people like Danial Kahneman, human brains automatically construct causal explanations for observed perceptions. The default response in conscious awareness is to accept the causal explanations at true without critical examination. They are simply perceived as knowing, seeing, etc., why something happens. Once believed it can be hard to take the next step and unbelieve an already accepted belief.

Audio religion, or just religion?
Perception seeks a reason, but it is a fact every recording is a mass of 'effects boxes', starting with the microphone.
