Interprete differences Ferrite - Neodynium magnet

I have organised a SpeakerCamp to complement Nelson's AmpCamp. 40 pairs and everybody was enthousiastic.

The Le depend at which freq you are measuring at, 1khz or 10khz.

But it had to take account of the voice coil height, and how much % of the VC is in the pole, as the pole will give additional inductance.

I use the above as I observed from them after so many years of building raw fullrange drivers
 
((The ferrite version is 0.023mH, the neodynium is 0.11mH, a factor of 5 difference.
That seems a very large difference; the DC voice resistance, voice coil dimensions etc are the same.
BL is also similar (5.53 vs. 5.18).
Where does the large induction difference come from, or maybe it is a typo?))

This not a typo. These both Le values are low, very low.
No one audiophile will able to hear any difference,
even late night, no even Bruce Wayne.
Ferrite are the cheaper, call it best buy,
Alnico are the most expensive and best sound,
Neo are also expensive and the most powerful.

The different Le came from a different VC, lenght,
wire type, copper, alu, wire shape etc in a different Gap, poles, rings etc

Maybe, that "would" explain a difference, but I find it hard to believe that a Factory makes two speakers, in theory same model, only difference claimed being magnetic material (Ferrite or ceramic) and also changing "

Datasheets say nothing about that and it actually does not make any sense from a production point of view.

As of the imagined "pole piece saturation" explanation, I would expect that to be directly reflected in BL factor (B being a component of it) and yet it stays almost the same (5.18TM vs 5.53TM), 6.7% , right within manufacturing tolerance variations.

So only difference I can find is that NEO is conductive, so it allows some eddy current inside, while Ferrite is practically a perfect insulator and NO eddy currents inside.

Magnets are not geometrically "inside" the voice coil, but still very much part part of the whole magnetic system, and some induced line forces pass through them.

As of quoted "difference in moving mass" it is also negligible : 5.76g vs 5.99g , less than 4% and again well within manufacturing tolerance.

Operator applying just 1 drop extra adhesive more than explains it 🙂

B difference between, say, 90% saturation and 99% saturation may be not more than few percentage points, if you look at flattening magnetization curve. But mu difference between 90% and 99% saturation may be quite substantial.

And why should the datasheet present a detailed compendium on VC to educate illiterates?

You certainly won´t educate ME, that´s for sure 😉

Been designing and manufacturing custom speakers for over 50 years now, some 15000/20000 delivered by now.
Really lost count.

By the way, are YOU Mr. Tang Band?

Didn´t know they were based in Brazil.

I think their workers prefer Chao Fan, not Arroz de feijão ....... maybe there is a reason for that 😉
