If that fails you can get it from the college of nursing, medicine, dentistry, etc. You might have to know someone for that method to work but it does work.
At University i had a friend taking histology. His professor gave it to him. A US gallon in a 5 gallon container was too much…

For internal wiring of speakers: Cat6 solid core. The advantage of solid core is that you can strip it with a sharp knife very easily, and it can be put through the lugs of any speaker, and when you are experimenting it can be easily secured by twisting the end back round (no need to solder)
Correction Midrange, I was an advocate of Cat 5/6 cables
use it even to make power cords but after reading a article
curiosity got the best of me so have to try. Believe it or not
best bang for buck, WE 16awg cables, couldn’t get those so
had to spend a little more to buy Duelands 16awg instead.
This is a must try for everyone for speaker wire & speaker

I would add caution to using non approved cables for power cables. Hell I wouldn't ever go there. Fire protection is serious stuff.
There are rules regarding fire retardant powder inside of power cables. if you use cat5/6 leftovers you are taking away that protection.
Could be an insurance hook.

I would be very leery of using network cable as a power cord
for anything other than low voltage & low current use.

Yeah... if I were the guy doing this I would tear up all of those cat5/6 power cords and replace them with approved stuff.

Your insurance company would not approve.
I know a guy who made a audiophile mains cable by twisting three AWG26 solid magnet wires together, and not even a sleeve over them. Yikes.

Not if the insulation is teflon.

I like Teflon cable, nice to solder since the insulation
does not shrink back etc when you solder it
I use razor blades to strip wires.

I found one of these used on the bay (at a price WAY, WAY lower). It's become one of my favorite tools. Strips any wire insulation, including TFE, like a dream.

No clue about today.
Always wanted one.

Yep Im the guy whose experimented with Cat5E as power cables.
Yes I understand what you guys are saying, thanks for the heads
up. Though they sound pretty descent as power & speaker cables,
I now found better solutions.
Cheers

POE isn't really that much different. But, yeah, I'd not be doing mains on CAT5/6
I'm glad you won't. But let's review the numbers to dissuade others from trying this.
Yes, thin wire will carry enough 120/240V to power preamps and many power amplifiers. When working right.
But wiring must be safe when things go WRONG.
PoE is power-limited, 10 Watts up to 90 Watts. You can NOT get more power than this.
My wall-outlet will supply around 10,000 Watts for a second, 2,300 Watts all day long.
That's 25 to 100 times as much power. Or roughly between a butane cigarette lighter and a large propane plumber's torch. I can start a fire with a lighter. It is much quicker with a flame 50X bigger.

There are some on the bay now (I just checked). There's one at $50 but it's not working (and I suspect isn't repairable). Several of a different brand that look ok in that range, too. If you go there, make sure to search under both "thermal wire strippers" and "wire heat strippers".*
*probably not just "heat strippers" or "hot strippers" or you'll likely get something else 🙂
