Am I the only one who loves pictures of tubes? Probably not. 🙂
Some years back I got a bunch of Raytheon 6GV5 tubes that were marked as property of some police department, in New Hampshire I think. I'm fascinated to think what a PD was using sweep tubes for. Have people used 6GV5s for audio?

Probably finals in a base radio. Swan and Drake used similar in amateur transmitters. I have a couple 8950's that Siltronics used.Am I the only one who loves pictures of tubes? Probably not. 🙂

6GV5's were sold for $1 each in a price war between two Florida tube sellers about 10 years ago. several of us ran them in audio amps. They were used in Pete's Engineer's amp for over 75 watts per channel. I'm sure that they are mentioned somewhere in the amp thread since I tried them in that amp. The whole thread is an informative adventure in tube amp building. Pete designed a mild mannered 18 watt per channel amp. I squeezed 250 watts per channel out of it, then created a build sheet for a "safe" 125 WPC version.Am I the only one who loves pictures of tubes? Probably not. 🙂
