Except that these were totally filled with acoustic FG which would have changed things a bit.
I actually didn't hook them up and listen to because I was far more interested in what the drivers were for what I paid

Definitely multiband compression, with each ILBulb in a reflector lamp above its driver. And a rule: If any of these light, someone's got to leave.
Information mainly for Aussies
Big box is 55litres and the Avico woofer really needs at least 120 so Q will be around 1 but that's OK
For those that remember when Dick Smith got bought out by Woolworths and all old stock was cleared the woofers are the generic 8inch that I've used and re-used a couple of times and the small box is around 20 litres. All offcuts and stuff from the shed, not much being bought for this project except a couple of resistors

The slanted box I'm using to make assembly easier for me is from a very old Tandy "School speaker" that was a garage sale buy. Never knew why I bought it; probably because it was cheap, but using the wood now.
If anybody wants the old 8inch full range that can take 5 watts before blowing up it's yours for postage cost.
Doubling up might safeguard the old chipboard and maybe give a few more years life

You seem to have lots & lots of interesting 'things'.
I like the Beringer Ultra curve > been meaning to get one for years 🙂

While I'm at it!
A real shame not to utilise such a well made box so it's being modified to be a 2.5 Way.
The 10" RadioShack "subwoofer" never were but are very good mid-bass drivers.
I am sealing off the top third of these boxes to take the Tandy driver and I will use the bottom space for the .5 woofer. I'm sure I can find something suitable from the stash
For those interested Fs 50Hz Qts 0.9 Vas55litres with a cabinet volume of 45 litres Vb is almost equal to Vas and it will be fibre filled.
So should work as a decent enough midrange for parties and I'll probably gift these anyway to reduce the stash a bit

I've noticed something about these old Tandy domes too.
There is some sort of "Vintage Nostalgia" going on, these old drivers are starting to appear on eBay for $50 and $60-each, which is really weird as I can buy the much better Peerless 50mm dome for $80- a pair and only $14- postage

Well the sealing of all the cracks went OK and some cheap paint will hide a lot of sins.
I was wondering how I was going to handle the last two octaves when I remembered some tweeters rabbitz gifted me a few years ago.
Thanx Peter.
And I found some really cheap drivers on the shelf I had been keeping for my son but he no longer thinks red woofers are "COOL" so the $20- 4R car drivers are replacing the $40- 8R woofers. I just need to go and find some cheap paint at Bunnings

I think you will find that the "$20 4ohm car woofers" are very low efficiency, and you will need a good amp.
to prevent low impedance voltage loss, making things even worse.
A 'good old fashioned bass control' could probably 'save the day'.

Well they aren't too bad, woofers not heavy subwoofers, I'm looking for the pair of 3.5mH coils I know I should have for the point five cross but I may also have a set of iron laminates from some old road kills somewhere
Although not GOSPEL, I read that a 'magical' Qts of .39 is where Vas is a near optimal box volume > to then be tuned. For those interested Fs 50Hz Qts 0.9 Vas55litres with a cabinet volume of 45 litres Vb is almost equal to Vas
