Hey guys, I got my LCD in the mail today
It did not come with a power supply, it says on the screen "Needs 12V DV round", does that mean that I need a 12V DC adapter? If so, will any 12V DC adapter work? Am I going to have to buy some special part?
Anyways, i took off the back and spotted the brown flex cable. I think this LCD is going to be a bit tricky to dismantle, but I should be able to get it done.
Any help would be good

Well, any power suply with work, if they have the good plug, and if the amp are ok.
You allways need a power suply that provide equal or more amp than the device need.
So if your monitor needs 12VDC with 100ma (milliamps), well your power suply must be 12VDC with 100ma or more.
And round well I guest this is for the type of plug

what if I use a 14v DC adapter?
EDIT: can i ever break the monitor by using the wrong dc adapter?

Hmmm, you have to use the same voltage.
You could buy a cheap universal power suply, I saw on here in quebec for like 4$.
But be sure to have 12VDC, and more than you need amps

I use 12v from the computer, so an old computer power supply (<$10 in used computer parts store, and it is regulated) should work fine.
If you buy a universal adapter, be warned that the monitor needs ~3A. Mine asks 2.8A. I think most of it goes to the backlit.

Hmm...
Backlight is dead on my LCD
I have a million and one PC power supplies, but this monitor takes a round connector.
The PC power supplies only output a connector for the motherboard, and ones for the hard drives and things.
How do you hook one of these up to an LCD monitor?

Well, you have 5v and 12v on a Pc power suply
The trick is to take the 12v plug of the suply, cut the wires, and solder them on a round plug.

OK not to but in or anything But, OK so you wanna get this monitor working, do you have a scaraficial barrell( round) plug off mabe a old dead PS, if so clip the wires long and connect to the pc power supply with electrical tape. IF not then go to radio shake and spend 10 bucks and get one( granted it needs the proper voltage amps( you can go over on amprage) and you should be set. Where did you get the monitor? ebay? how much ? you said it has a dead backlight? talk to u L8er
This is a dumb question, but does anyone know how many amps this LCD would need?
