I don't believe cables make a difference, any input?

"Transmutation of lead into gold isn't just theoretically possible - it has been achieved! There are reports that Glenn Seaborg, 1951 Nobel Laureate in Chemistry, succeeded in transmuting a minute quantity of lead (possibly en route from bismuth, in 1980) into gold. There is an earlier report (1972) in which Soviet physicists at a nuclear research facility near Lake Baikal in Siberia accidentally discovered a reaction for turning lead into gold when they found the lead shielding of an experimental reactor had changed to gold. "

trouble is that the process is many time more expensive than the gold produced 😀

Certainly, as long as everyone has a turn on the couch. 'Objective' opinions offered here are often written as if only the other side has a psyche, or that simply knowing the pitfalls makes one magically immune unless the 'knower' is also claims cable differences. Pretty confusing actually.

Even more confusing and fun will be if the psychologist can hear the differences between cables.......🙂 🙂 🙂

No problem though,we can always send him to a psychytrist😀

Nearly all tests I have seen are clearly biased towards a null result....

please prove otherwise 😀 😀 😀

so where do we go??

"I hear a difference between cables, and if I didn't in a dbt then I ignore the test" presumably because...well I dunno really. Maybe because the first result always wins? Ie what I decide in life first is what will always be.

I mean that is basically it isn't it? I hear it, so no matter what the result of any test ( even if I am part of it :xeye: :xeye: ) the test must be wrong cause I (know) I hear it.

I really hope to god I'd be bigger than that (easy to say, wonder if we are able to be 'bigger'?) and if in fact I did hear a difference in what I judged to be a properly conducted test then I would accept the umpires decision.

Sure, get a result you don't expect go back and check the methodology, but if the results keep coming out the same way.....I sure hope I would accept it.

OK andy, YOU take responsibility for the test procedure and methodology (why do I feel a sense of deja vu??😀 ) that allows us (finally it seems) to have an honest test ...all of those ones in the past have been biased and oh so unscientific!......and I'm sure I can rustle up a few (if not then just me) and we'll do the proper test.

The cable believers test if you will.

Tell us (why do I feel like there is an echo?😉 ) what you would do differently and why.

Lets actually DO something, rather than 90 pages of crap!

I keep hearing it from you guys.."the tests are always done poorly or biased'

Ok, now is your chance. Either we start a new thread and between all of us work out an agreed upon procedure, or we carry on here.

Gee, it would be great if on the same weekend we could have many tests all carried out en masse, recently there has been a 'dare' for one to be done in capetown, maybe at a minimum we could do two concurrently.

Whatever, I'll drive to newcastle no worries, lets just bloody do something eh?

Ball is in your court guys. I'm calling your bluff.

edit make that over 100 pages of crap!

poor Terry.. you sound upset.

You are the believer in these dbt tests, you almost worship them... whereas I think they are a load of c***.

Why should it be up to me to try to fix something that I believe is broken from its very inception. That is very unsound logic on your behalf. !!

And I haven't heard any cable differences on my systems because I don't have the time or money to experiment, so doing any tests here would be pointless even if I did have the inclination... which I don't.

terry j,in post #2527 I have said I can take the challenge.I must be one of the most unscientific persons in this discussion so,there you have it🙂 Summer would be just fine for many reasons.Everybody has more time, everybody enjoys Cyprus sea,Cyprus local food, and hi-fi sounds better....please not another thread😀 😀 😀

No. Where did you get that idea?

Just the prevailing comments here sound like folk just shooting off at the mouth, instead of getting a couple of RCAs and checking things out themselves. A rigorous DBT takes out an evening, but not difficult to set up ...

Better to do that than just belly-rumble on the forum.

"allows us (finally it seems) to have an honest test ...all of those ones in the past have been biased and oh so unscientific!..."

"Heck, if people can hear the differences I'm also interested!"

do I sound upset Andy?

nahh, but I really don't see the bother of over 100 pages of back and forth, what's the point?

However, you (and a few others, but off the top of my head I can't name them now, so don't think I'm singling you out ok) continually push the 'unscientific poorly conducted' line.

I simply gave you full control and authority to put your money were your mouth is, and you bailed.

I will drive to your place, no worries it will be fun. YOU can work out how to do this in such a manner that you and your cohort cannot glibly dismiss it, in other words it is now in your power to finally do this test that i9s not biased and aims to prove a point.

Finally, in the history of this debate, YOU (hallelujah) will be THE ONE with the where with all and knowledge to finally do a proper test.

And not before time. Funny how to date there has been no test ever that can even come close to the one YOU will create.

Put up or shut up I reckon.

And the same goes for everyone else here who hides behind the 'all the previous tests are flawed'. If andy wants to make a lot of noise and then run away that's fine.

That however does not stop any of you (not that I can be bothered going back to find names mind, we all have a reasonable idea of who we are talking about) singing that same old tired song from setting everyone straight, by being the first (evidently) to do a proper scientific test.

Put up or shut up, just like Mike Lavigne did. At least HE had the balls to test his convictions.

Panicos, yes I do know you offered and are willing to do the test, on the proviso (obviously) that people get themselves to cyprus. That is to be commended.

However, I only 'pushed' andy because that is one case where I am able to attend and be a part of it, and I am willing to drive half a dozen hours to do it. Additionally there was a willingness expressed for something in capetown (was it?).

Heck, lets do them all on the same weekend all following an agreed upon protocol.

Except I expect all we will get is another bunch of fob offs and excuses.

Funny eh.

Wire Wire

I cannot believe someone would spend upwards of $80.00 per foot for some esoteric cable only to have that low capacitance wire plug into a passive crossover loaded with inductors, capacitors, (and resistors) in the signal path. Dayton 12 gauge OFC speaker wire (approx. $0.60 per foot) and four sets of mid-priced shielded interconnects with gold plated RCA’s were my choice for my Tri-Amped 3-way speaker system ( w/ active XO ).

What I just realised I need is a filter to reject all left-handed electrons, my cheap cables just can't handle the mix of left and right rotating electrons.
It may take a few dollars but i'm positive that discarding all of those pesky right-hand rotating electrons is the solution to my systems lack of definition in the midrange and the lack of bass/ of course all of you in the Northern hemisphere will have to build a left-hand rejection unit as the electron spin preference surely must be different up there!!??

😀 😀 😀

Cape Town Challenge

Still waiting for takers in Cape Town! Are you guys also all talk and no action? Come on, here's a golden opportunity to prove the point one way or the other and prevent this thread going on for the next six months and 1000+ pages. (What a way to kick off the new year, hey.)

Here I am! And I know at least 2 other inquisitive persons whom I should have no problem dragging along.

Send me a PM with some details of your proposed test and what it sets out to prove.

Cheers

Hi Moondog, don't start, you'll set imaginations in motion. 😛
Let me be the first "unbeliever" to say that I heavily doubt Coriolis force can be heard in cables. You can always try and milk this though, good marketing ploy, patent it. :dodgy:
Cables, having an inductive component though might suffer Hall effects due to the shift in the Earth's magnetic fields. :clown:
Enough banter

Hi hihopes,
I'ld like to see this cable test at work, sounds a bit like ghost hunting or searching for UFO's. (KIDDING!!)
Seriously though, I am open to research and am quite curious.
We should make a plan, keep me posted.
Cheers,
Carl
