Hypex DSP module(s)

This is a thread about the Hypex DLCP. It's kind of uncool to come in here and jack the thread by talking up another product

Especially after being already told off in the Nadja thread:

Similarly, I've seen some mentions of Najda on Hypex' DSP thread. Please don't do this - if you want to compare the 2 platforms, create a new thread but don't pollute Hypex' (or any other) thread.

Rick,

Alerts shouldn't be necessary. And smart aleck replies are not either. 🙂

One post would have been sufficient. But, you continued and offered some commentary on both platforms.....neither of which (by the way) you've either owned/used/heard. 🙂
No firsthand experience doesn't necessarily render comments moot on this forum, but for those who haven't established a good reputation, it does minimize their impact quite a bit.

Cheers,

Dave.

Does anyone have the following information:
* Pinout of the analog/digital input header (J2)
* Pinout of the IO header (J3)
* Control codes or protocol documentation for the IO header

I have now ordered a DLCP but I would like to squeeze it into a much smaller chassis than the usual input board would allow. I would like to use my own inputs, and control everything with an arduino microprocessor, so I need to understand what the protocol is to control input selection and volume.

Thanks,
Edward

Hi Edward,

The pinout of all connectors can be found in the datasheet, which can be found on our website.
Please contact me at jan-willem at hypexpro dot com for further information about the protocol.

Best regards,

Jan-Willem

My DLCP is up and running:

You can always try using it in your existing system as a 2 channel (L & R) DAC

or as a 'piece of string' - insert it as if it were an interconnect, with processing on the signal
That's what I did when I tried out DEQX HDP-4 and GroundSound DCN28. Hooked them up to passive speakers and tried both analogue inputs (using an external DAC) and digital inputs. That enabled me to get an impression of both the preamp and D/A section.
None of them matched my Lynx Two-B soundcard in terms of transparency by the way.

The Dlcp and Ncore's are intergrated in the Grimm LS 1:

Grimm Audio - LS1

So it will sound ok I think................
I think so too. Grimm speakers with Ncore was the most transparent and open sounding speakers at the Munich show to my ears.

I'm trying now to figure out if I can use the DLCP for my need. I'm a total beginner at this and need help (read to be feed with teaspoon). I've gotten custom using miniDSP which I found easy even for a novice like me.

With the DLCP I'm however quite lost. I don't even understand how to start entering high-pass and low-pass properly..... I've sent a mail to Hypex with some questions, but wanted to ask something here too.

I already have the settings (crossover and EQ) for my speakers and don't need to measure from scratch. I will only measure room response later and then possibly make my own changes.
If someone want to take a look at my settings they are found in this manual on page 81-82:
http://www.parts-express.com/pedocs/manuals/301-980-audio-artistry-inc-cbt36k-manual-9148.pdf
I don't know if there's anything to be improved when it comes to filters and EQ of drivers, but speak out if anyone believes differently. They speakers use linear phase as is mentioned in the manual:
Linear phase and time aligned at most locations in front of and to the sides of the array.

For global correction (getting the correct response) I can either add seven EQ settings (low-shelf and high-shelf) or use biquad settings I used in miniDSP. Does the DCLP have the same biquad possibilty as miniDSP? If so, how exactly is this added?

What type of remote can be used with the DLCP? I can't see this mentioned anywhere. Under options I see it's possible to choose "OneForAllRem" or "Hypex Remote". Is Hypex Remote something on the way?

What quality PSU is recommended to use with the DLCP? I have Ncore with SMPS600 and Abletec ALC1000 amps with SMPS' as well.
