I have used MiniDSP since they work as convolver for FIR filters, I suggest to take a look at the new Flex series.
A tech-question: What is the reason, that a device might be "too old" to be updated with a recent firmware? Technical / Resource limits?
The ADAU145x they are using is MORE than capable of doing FIR filters.
In fact this is very standard when just using the SigmaStudio software.
I have been using and applying those for as long as those IC's were available.
So why only certain versions are supported is just kinda strange.
Even their old IC, the ADAU170x/140x supports FIR filters, although there is not a whole lot of space.
With some creativity it is JUST about possible to get a 2-way system out of it.

I just check in the latest HFD manual (page 15) you can select input OR output Fir under Preset in the menu but I have installed the latest HFD version 5.0 and by no way I can see in the menu that option !

According to the manual, you can design a filter with no FusionAmp connected

The menu option for switching between Input and Output FIR is not there when you have no FA connected. I see the same thing. Maybe you should contact Hypex Support about this.
OK, I understand that these options are available only with FusionAmp 5.x connected. Little strange, I still can see 4500 tap input FIR without adequate FusionAmp connected.
By the way, Mr Kimmo Saunisto have just added to its incredible VituixCAD software the ability to work with the Hypex 93750Hz sampling rate !
