Then don't upgrade unless you want to pay for a working Hornresp, or want to patch Wine yourself

It runs great in docker-wine. That's how I run xsim and hornresp.

I know this is not at all what you asked for, but any old used windows laptop can be remotely controlled from OSX, I use No machine to control a LattePanda delta running headless.
All windows depending software like Hornresp, Dats, Basta, sigma studio runs without any problem.
