Hi there,
can anyone name a decent quality coaxial cable for internal audio signal wiring? It should ideally have an outer diameter of no more than 2-2.5mm and be reasonably flexible...

Andreas

It looks as if almost all low diameter cables have Cu/Ag clad steel conductors - perfect for RF applications, but is this acceptable for relatively low frequency audio?

Small O/A diameter requires small core diameter.
Maybe they have used the steel core to retain sufficient handling strength.
Check the resistance for your typical interconnect length. If it's under 0r1 then you can safely ignore it for all normal audio operation, where typical source impedance range from 10r to 1000r

For internal wiring you can probably use cheap lapped screen cable. This is usually thin and flexible. The main snag is that the inner (usually copper) is quite thin so fiddly to strip off the insulation.
I've used a piece of a USB cable in a pinch and it works just fine. I ignored the two tiny signal lines and used the two heavier power conductors for the signal. Grounded the drain wire from the woven shield at one end. No $$$ (got dozens), low resistance and plenty flexible.
Ordered ten metres of RG-179 now: inner conductor is copper-clad steel with a silver coating on top, screen is silver-coated copper braid.
I'll report back after installing it.
