Looking at the TI TCM2702PJT, there are two versions available from Mouser.

595-PCM2707PJT @$10.13 and 595-PCM2707PJTRG4 @ $6.80

I don't see any difference in the data sheet, and the only difference in the Mouser description is that the first is delivered in trays, and the second is cut tape and reel.

Does anyone know of any other difference (performance)?

It appears to me that both are comparable so the cut T&R is a better buy.

I've used these for isolation for AudioTester and they work quite well.

At $10.23 each they might be worth a try.

EDCOR - WSM10K/10K

Have any before after FFT shots as far as increase in harmonic distortion? Was the frequency response flat?

There is also a identical edcore one model up (bigger core) with more inductance on the primary for a few dollars more. The plots on the webpage show moredistortion but this could just be be cause the bigger transformer was testing with a larger input.

I don't have any plots on hand, but I can put it back together and run it. Hopefully this weekend.

I've got two set up with one on the output from the sound card and one on the input. I'll just jumper them in to out and run a plot. (I have to clean off the workbench first so it might be late tomorrow or Sunday.

I dug out some old tubes I got from my dad (we used to fly RC airplanes in the 60s).

They are 1AG4 pentodes designed to run off batteries. Filaments (not heaters) are designed for 1.25V, Plate (anode) curves are given for 90V. These are output Pentodes which are spec'd at pretty high THD in that mode (35mW at 12%thd) , however triode strapped data is given in some data sheets and they look pretty linear. If lightly loaded, they might work well.

I'm thinking of leaving out the op amps, and running a vacuum tube Long Tail Pair with current source in the tail, then drive one of these transformers for the output.

Which SONY remote is supported by the Arduino?

Does this basic one looks like it has enough functionality?

RM-EZ4 | Remote Control | Sony | Sony Store USA

With regards to the transformer, I found one (WSM10K/600) that is spec'd at 10K to 600R, which is a 4.1:1 ratio and it has a primary inductance of 22H. Given a Mu of the 1AG4 at around 5, in an LTP this should put the overall gain of the amp to less than 1.2 so the output will still be near line level.

That is a bismuth based alloy similar to the low temp alloy commonly called "Woods Metal".

It is not recommended for soldering due to it's brittleness. It should only be used to remove ICs, not to solder them in place. Be sure to remove as much as you can before placing the component and soldering it.

I read an article in one of the electronics trade magazines (ECN) that pretty much stated that all the claims about lead pollution due to electronics was way overblown. 80%+ of lead goes into batteries. Estimation is that only 1% ends up in electronics assemblies and with recycling laws in Europe (and tightening laws in the rest of the world) minimizing the amount that goes into landfills, there is much less lead contamination (actually very little) than previously asserted.

On the other hand, news tonight included a blurb about the FDA announcing that traces of lead have been detected in lipstick.

The lead in electronics was part of the 1% group, way overblown is an understatement, of course what they forgot was that lead free solder requires a much higher temerature so we waste more energy by using it.
If you want to see how realy silly some of this can get, look at the PCB manufacturing inductry in California (oh there isn't one anymore). The green brigade blamed the PCB industry for some chemical in the water sytem, some legislation was passed, the PCB industry moved elswhere and the chemical levels in question didnt reduce. The PCB press balmesd it on the power of NGO (non-govermental orginisations).
