"This D family tweeter features an 8ohm 19mm voice coil, a treated fabric dome, with a ferrite magnet and a ABS faceplate, and ferrofluid in the gap of the ferrite magnet motor, providing enhanced cooling of the voice coil. Is designed to be a high performance transducer."
Is this means poly dome? sellers list this tweeter as soft dome 😕
I'm collecting and using german made 70s grundig speakers. All of them using soft dome tweeters and mids. Sounds crystal clear with great instrument separation.

All very confusing. 😀
Peerless by Tymphany D19TD-05 3/4" Poly Dome Tweeter
Personally I know the difference between polydome mylar, plastic and PET (Poly Ester Thalate) and a soft cloth dome. Coles 4001G Super Tweeter, Spendor, IMF, B&W, R50
But I can't get Tymphany to work tonight. 😕
Direct fit 1997 8ohm ver. of Sonus Faber Concertos
FYI the Vifa D19TD-05 3/4" Poly Dome Tweeters I purchased seem to be a direct replacement for my Sonus Faber Concertos (8 ohm 1997 version) speakers (Sonus Faber OEM Made in Norway 19TFFSF H827 - 8ohm Cloth Tweeter). Sound is very comparable -- if not better, IMHO. Debate Poly vs Cloth. Very Satisfied with purchase. Other than Parts Express these are very hard to find even near his price level -- if you can even locate them at all.

And, if I've followed the machinations correctly, the main recommendations that were made as the thread progressed. 😎
Long story short; You and Steve is spot on about logical approach 😉
Well, good news my friends!

I just had a chat with Neil at Wilmslow Audio. He kindly went into the warehouse to check the tweeter. Plastic dome! 😎
Says in his line of work they often use "soft-dome" to describe "not metal", since customers often get confused. 😀
They can ship to Turkey, though places like France are cheaper.

Like me, but I blame it on my advancing years!

Neil at Wilmslow was saying there aren't many plastic domes around these days, but I am pretty sure this is one too. Monacor DT 19 SU Diameter:100mm

I remember it as being used in some BBC LS3/5A clones as a substitute for the plastic KEF T27.
In Germany the tweeter is known as Monacor DT 19 SU Supronyl. Supronyl being a German trademark for "Plastics in the form of films use in manufacture... "

Looks a good substitute for a Celestion HF2001 if you adjust level down. No ferrofluid I reckon and 100mm. This is what I did with that Visaton DT-94 tweeter at 3kHz. Just like the Celestion circuit really. Mylar is overly bright at the top end, hence the 7R5 / 1.5uF Zobel.

Still at it, buddy? You change things unpredictably when you put a resistor after the filter. In front of the filter always works for me, especially with a zobel. 2.2R will be about 2dB into 6 ohms.
I always model things to see how it works.

The Visaton G20SC tweeter is very similar to the 19TTFF1.

Yes, I'm still experimenting 🙂
Original tweeter zobel is 8.2r & 1.5uf. I want to experiment with a 'half zobel' 😉
So, which values are you suggesting?
edit: Installing boxsim under linux is bit tricky. But I managed to install. Thanks.
