Staring at a picture isn't really helping. The scanspeak 21W-8554 is a bass driver really, not a midwoofer, isn't it? 😕

I don't think this can be done. Every design I see uses a very low 1.5kHz crossover and that leads to complexity. The only significant aspect of the tweeter is its cutout diameter. 104mm?

I think if it was me, I'd use a better behaved woofer. Like the SEAS CA22RNY:
H1471-08 CA22RNY

I suppose you could try something like third order bass 1.5mH series /4.7uF plus 7.5R shunt /1mH series with the scanspeak. I have no idea how it will model really, but it might be reasonably flat.

Here's a very concrete suggestion of where you should go with a well-behaved 8 inch bass unit. Like the SEAS CA22RNY.

This sort of thing works really well with the Monacor HT22-8 cone tweeter.

Reflex or closed box is not really important. Sounds very good. It's BW3 as it goes. 🙂

Good suggestions Steve and Sreten. I am energized by the idea of the experiment and will go through a number of iterations before I try another woofer but I do agree that this woofer is really a woofer not a midrange. I'll post results when I start messing with it.
