Help with Adire 281 TL design

Finally got the time to retrofit the box. I know it's probably taboo to tell you all this, but I ended up building it into the ported design 😱

I was able to cut off the front baffle and then basically drill out a bunch of 2" holes in the TL. I then added a crossbrace between the drivers and cut a new front baffle. They came out quite nicely except that the T-nuts caught the side walls on the first baffle and caused it to not seal. I didn't notice until I put a ton of nails in it 🙁 I'm going to have to bondo the crap out of the 1/16" gap between the baffle and the sides. Thankfully I noticed before I did the second box and corrected the issue with a chisel.

For comparison sake, here is the TL near measurement:

An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.

Anyhow, here is the ported box near measurement:

An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.

And here is the far measurement:

An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.

Much better bass response than before and it is definitely easy to hear as well. I'm much happier with the ported box. Dan informed me that the 281's were meant to be built ported and he was obviously correct.

Thanks to all who helped me out with this. I've learned a ton about TL design and hopefully when the budget allows it, I can still build a TL design in the future. Of course, I'll be sure to come talk to you guys first 😉
