hi SY,
R2 is connected to B+ via 10K dropping resistor, R1 is connected to ground, Q2 collector to 5842 plate.
I'm currently using 62K for R1 and 100R for R2. Jumper for R3.

OK, the extra current across the 10k (if I understand your description) is what's flowing through the LED string, in addition to the set current.
Oh yes!
I missed that! And that's roughly 5-6mA which I never fed into my computation
Thanks SY!

IXYS 10M45 CCS & Powerdrive Questions
Hi TUBELAB.COM,
I find your design using IXYS 10M45 CCS as a plate load is quite interesting and simple. I will buy some chips to try.
In addition to use it as a plate load, can I use it as the cathode load of a self-biased cathode follower (12B4A cf at 20ma). If yes, can you please describe the details to me.
I am also interested in your Powerdrive. Can I use it (with 2A3, etc.) to drive a single-ended 805? As far as I know the 805 is very difficult to drive and it will work in a class A2 operation (driven to +ve grid region).
What's the cost of your Powerdrive? Is it available for sale now?
Thanks.

T.C. MA
