Now for the Polluto Mark II
Feb. 27 report: I've been using a pair of the original Polluto as my bedroom speakers for six or seven weeks now, haven't got sick once....
No wait, that is a flashback sorry. They do in fact sound ok, still no EQ on them (my "source" is streaming audio from my Android phone ).
I'm not sure that "new age" style music is the best for test listening...current music sounds fine (mono!) They use so much reverb, it sounds like the piano is at the bottom of a well, perhaps enhanced by all my tube resonances 🙂
Last night I decided to invest the many minutes to build the next de-generation: this time with the goal of the earlier mentioned Bose driver tester. After some Hornresp calcs it looks like a transmission line of about 120 cm is good. But I want a floor stander, and opted for a double pipe, effectively a folded TL. Is it a point source? With the port adjacent? Not sure what to call it but it is 70 cm tall (excl. the base). No photos yet but with a "901" driver in it, single channel, quite impressive (apparent?) lows.
