Help - pre ARC

Steve ,
Good point
I hear hiss in both mode and even if selected not used input ( aux 2)
I have changed 6550 e 6h30 in Psu section but nothing change.
Service in Italy told me that is all normal for a tube pre . I want compare this with your experience .
Pre sound very good and hiss don’t disturb but see other comment and some doubt come

With volume at zero is not possible that the noise comes from source.
Normally the hiss is depending from tube selection.
And probably it doesn't come from tube on power supply.
The D70-2 has 0,85 V as sensitivity for max power so it is relatively high
But the gain of the 5 is 6 dB in the s.e. and 12 dB in balanced, so it is not so high

All right , but hiss came when volume >0 and mute is off

Antonio:
I finally checked the noise in my REF 3. NOT muted and full volume there is some hiss and tube roar. At half volume, which would be crazy loud and probably drive the power amp into clipping there was very, very slight hiss that could only be heard (maybe) with an ear right on the speaker. I hope this helps.
