The ply is beach ply by the way (all but the front). Love it...much heavier than birch. And also harder.

They look stunning mate!
Houston we have a problem! Very little bass. One can hardly feel any air coming out of the ports. So it seems...the loading is off. It's almost as if the woofer is being compressed or the enclosure absorbs the energy from it...and it can't "breathe"...because except for very little bass it sounds sluggish as well.
Apart from port length apparently loading it wrong. Audio Elite also pointed out that there should be at least 5 centimeter space between the end of the ports and the back wall. Currently this is 49,5mm (calculated 18mm into the front baffle) length of the port is 18,3mm. Depth of the speaker is 21,5mm

Luckily I did not glue the ports to the front baffle yet. So this should all be fixable.
By the way I calculated the inside volume to be around 16 liters. So it's close to 0.58 cubic inch instead of 0,7.

Ducted ports also work when located ( in reverse ) sticking outside the box.
Try that ( to see if the problem is related to blockage/constriction/ placement too near the back of the boc.
Also do an impedance sweep ( using Limp or REW's impedance measurement system & a jig ) to check your actual box tuning.
🙂
Thanks for the tips.
That would be nice. But I'm not at all rigged for speaker testing etc. Audio Elite is going to do some calcs for me. And I'm going to do some trial and error in the meantime. Also do an impedance sweep ( using Limp or REW's impedance measurement system & a jig ) to check your actual box tuning.
If the port being too close to the back wall isn't the problem, you could try a shorter port. Maybe make a temporary one out of rolled up cardboard or something.
Last night Audio Elite calculated a port length for me just under 10cm. Cut it. Placed them back. And much better.
Still not run in ofcourse....but right now I'm thinking this is not a project someone should repeat. (My own version that is...with the Faitalpro woofer instead of the 18Sound)
