Hmm, I was curious about a specific error that would have made corrections afterwards possible. And in this case a error that would be common to a Behringer, a G.R.A.S, a Buel & Kjaer and a Larson&Davis microphone.
I didnt find that in the links provided🙂 .

My german ist so good. I see three mics discussed, one that I used. Do you mean that a rising top end response is common to the other types of microphones that i used too?ShinOBIWAN said:You'll see a common theme in mics, rising top end response.
Anyway, I hope that it is clear that eventual flaws in microphone response not need to be critical when comparing for instance measurement from difference angles with the same microphone.

I meant that virtually all uncorrected omni directional microphones of the type used for acoustic measurement show a rising top end response. The decent ones are calibrated and come with a correction file to be applied in your measurement software.

Yes, the error will be consistent across any range of measurements.
Yes, because the error is consistent it could easely be accounted for when COMPARING different measurements with the same mic 🙂ShinOBIWAN said:

After that lash out I am sharing my experience of Ingvar Öhman:
I was very sceptic at first and it took my former colleague a full year of talking me into listening to mr Öhmans products. My friend was running a set up consisting of two very small speakers accompanied by two subwoofers (or bass modules as mr Öhman calls them). They didn't look like much but I was in for a big surprise as it was - by a wide margin - the best listening experience I had had until then. (And I have been to many a demo and owned a lot of renowned speakers up until then)
After booking a demo at Mr Öhmans basement I subsequently made the trip and spent a few hours listening and asking. From scratch, mr Öhman struck me as a frank and very honest person with an accumulated knowledge that he could convey very convincingly; for every question he could answer, for every thing you said against it he could expand and go deeper into the subject until it was crystal clear what his opinion was and how he had come to that conclusion.
Also, and most importantly; he does not think that he knows everything. If there is something he does not know about he says so and does not elaborate on pure speculation. Also he does show an understanding and appreciation of people who does not think like he does and people who does not agree on the subjective part of things. On the objective side of things he is very rigid and very scientifically oriented and avoids rule-of-thumb thinking.
In conclusion he is one of Swedens best kept secrets and there are a few of us who had hoped he would not make it across the pond so that we could have him for ourselves. Some one on the forum here strongly objected to the umpteen month waiting list for demos and speakers - you have a choice; you bite it or you don't.
I started out with the smaller pair of speakers - that somewhat resemble the Guru QM10's in size and performance and that can be bought as a DIY kit for chump change. I have since moved on up to the full range speakers and have since then been in a position where I have stopped scouring the world for speakers - I am that happy with them. And I still have the small ones which have their inherent limitations but in their segment they are hard to beat and the sound character (neutral and "correct") are the same.
The big ones I have you can toss pretty much everything at and there are few speaker systems (at any price range) that top or even tie them for uncolored sound.
I am not an airy-fairy kind of consumer; I am willing to pay whatever is necessary to get the best I can, he has met end exceeded my expectations and I listen to pretty much all types of music. His speakers are uncolored / transparent and while some argue that his speakers don't sound well with crappy recordings I think that they sound as good as that crappy recording possibly can (sometimes not pleasant, but true at least) and when you play a very dynamic piece of music you can enjoy it in full with dynamics and clarity preserved and presented as the recording engineer intended. Simple as that.
Some people I know just got the high end speaker systems he has that they had been waiting on for two years to pick up - though it would have held me off they knew it would be worth the wait and they are not complaining. 😉
Also, he is a warm person and genuinely interested in helping people making their listening environment (room acoustics) better and a consultation by him can be worth more than twenty system/speaker changes. I am surprised the importance of controlling your listening environment is not discussed and adressed more.
If you only knew what an asset you have at hand here - don't scare him off! Take your time to reread his longer postings, and do yourselves a favor and ask away.
Oh, and he is definitely NOT a sales pitch person, it is some of us who are pleasantly surprised that highlight his efforts - he is never pressing anyone to buy and prefers if people think it over. He does not even ship speakers or sell other than during demo. His high end systems have made it to Thailand and Australia and those guys thought it was worth the effort though it meant they had to seek up mr Öhman and book a demo in the (worldwide in Sweden famous) Basement.

Well someone must have done some pretty fancy marketing to get people to fly from Thailand and here Down-under, to Sweden, just to audition a speaker !! 😀
I would rather call it passion, not marketing. Passion from all parties involved, a passion for music.
I think the aussie fellow made it twice, once for the audition and the second time to collect the valuables. 🙂

Hey, I drove to Adelaide to hear VAFs (well, went to Flinder Ranges, but close enough for an excuse 😀 ).
I worked for Swedish company and used to go to Sweden every year, more or less. I'd imagine lots of people do so too (go to Sweden for other reasons). Why not check Guru speakers ? And buy them if they are that good ?
I don't think anyone flew to Sweden just to hear speakers, but then, people who can afford to fork out US$275K for Perfect 8 The Force probably do.

I much prefer Perfect 10.

Actually, Sweden is a country where you can not buy the Guru-speakers. They are produced for export only.
Maybe some time in the future, they are going to be marketed in Sweden too, as monitor speakers. We'll see.
At present date, they are sold in USA, Canada, Great Britain, South Korea, Hong Kong, Singapore and as I've understood it, there are discussions going on with possible representatives in Australia, Spain, Japan, Italy, Tobago, the Philippines. Germany, France, Polen, Czech Republic, Brazil, Vietnam and probably some other countries that I perhaps haven't even heard of (they don't tell me everything, the other Guru guys).
Best regards, Ingvar

you're thinking of expanding into countries yet have a huge backlog time on orders already? if you do expand, you will have to seriously consider being able to(or at least better) meet demand. Good luck.
I just want to say after following this thread and reading Ingvars opinions on a few things...one of which was (buried in here somewhere) the angle of the front speakers in relation to the listener. I'm not sure he gave absolute or exact figures but I got that he meant something like 22 - 25 degrees (from memory) , ie reasonably closer together than 30 degrees. I hope I got that right or once again I'll be making a fool of myself on a public forum! ha ha
Anyway, after some recent tweaks to my system I followed what I hope was Ingvars preference and moved my speakers closer together to something like the ballpark figures mentioned above, and blow me down if it did not make a large and immediately noticeable improvement to the presentation, particularly much more precise imaging yet counter-intuitively with a slightly expanded soundstage as well.
Anyway it worked for me and thanks for that Ingvar.

The moderation team had decided that this is no longer a useful thread and are now closing it. It does not deal with DIY, the intent of this site, and has turned into a finger pointing match and more. A shame really.
Any comments can be directed to me via email.
Our forums has a different sensibility than some others. It seems that two new members have carried their battle here from some other forum which possibly allows this sort of behavior, to ours where we don't.
