Taves has been cancelled... The folks who put on the Montreal audio show are now organizing Toronto Audio Festival Home - Toronto Audio Fest
Which is October 19th - 21st.

Hi Mark,
You never know, the date may change. Right now the timing is being tested.

Well I'm back after the 20th of November.
Watching what happens with you guys. We have fun here in Ottawa 9 years running! But we are a once a year as it gives people time to make projects.
That's basically what we do here. There is an awesome BBQ, coffee and other stuff. We listen to projects on a massive speaker system where even flea power stuff can sound good.
Members have brought tube, solid state and class D equipment. That's along with other outboard gear too. The two web sites involved are CAM and DIYAudio, but I imagine someone with similar interests wouldn't be kicked out for showing up unaffiliated with either web site.
If you can make it to one, I'm sure you would have a great time. We have a fabulous host as well.

4th good for me.
It would be great have Mark K. drop by. Of course to bring along his subs, he'd have to use a large truck.

If I came I'd probably bring something to shake things up a bit!
And I have a mid-sized truck, and a trailer 😱

BTW brothers and sisters, can we think of some good Canadian socialistic activities we can undertake as a group.... group purchases aside.
Just to throw out an idea, "anechoic" testing using some open field perhaps with test speakers lifted off the ground and perhaps rotating on a turntable?*
Are there activities like that to organize? At least in the 3 good weather months.
We should also be conscientious about compensating Dave for his generosity with the food goodies, etc.

* sadly, my ESL speakers and large installed subs aren't mobile, but would love to see that kind of testing performed

I totally agree. We should chip in.
Really enjoy the two meets that we had this year. Looking forward for the next meet in Nov.

Just up the road here tooHi kawihornet,
Now that you're subscribed to this thread, you will know.
You aren't that far away from me. Small world.

Hi Gareth,
I had hoped you would attend a least one of these events. Dave is a great host.

If there's enough interest and I'm not out of the country, I can bring my calibrated speaker measurement rig and/or electronics measurements rig (AP Sys 1 + Presonus VSL1818).
We could use a combination of ground plane, nearfield and 2M gated measurements depending on the DUT configuration. The results using these methods compare favourably with my NRC measurements of the same speakers and in some cases, they are actually more accurate due to M37's single position low frequency calibration.
cheers

Although my main speakers aren't easily transported, sounds like a fabulous opportunity for other people, provided the weather cooperates.
Umm, "sphinx"..... "my NRC measurements".... ?
