Good specs for an inexpensive monitor!

If you go to the web site and compare the 1512 to the 1515 it seems the 1512 has better specs.

1515:

1512:

I cant read chinese but the numbers look like the 1515 has:
Brightness 400 cd/m
Contrast 500:1

The 1512 has:
Brightness 450 cd/m
Contrast 550:1

Ohter than that they look the same and have the same specs and I would assume would have the same ease of disassembly.

The day I saw this thread I looked on the web for spec's on the 1515. The 1515 and 1512 were listed together on most websites. The 1512 was alway's listed with better spec's. I wonder if this is right ? and if the 1512 rip's apart like the 1515 ?

Dracul I already have the 1512 just got the other day. I already partly opened it and I think it opens up exactly like the 1515. I have not completely disassembled the lcd (I don’t want to until I get all my parts from diylabs so nothing gets broken while I wait) but from what I have seen so far it looks exactly like brainchild's 1515. http://diyaudio.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=13798&perpage=15&pagenumber=3
When I take it fully apart I will make sure to take pictures and post a little tutorial.
Brainchild what model number is on the back of your LCD. My lcd looks so much like yours I would not be surprised if they put better panels in the 1512 then they advertise (500:1 instead of the 400:1 the advertise.) The image quality on this thing is great I can’t wait to try it.

I just bought cmv1512 from MS 4 ME. Great guys - they upgraded my free USPS shipping to UPS ground shipping for free! I just feel a little more comfortable with UPS shipping procedure than USPS. Let us just hope that other than missing the great contrast ratio of cmv 1515 I do not miss anything else!
Thanks,

A150X1 on CMV1512 as well. Does that mean 1512 has same panel as 1515 does:scratch:

If that is the case then guys go grab the 1512 as mine has just arrived and the model # is A150X1 on mine!

All have to do now is get some time free from all family disruptions and strip this beauty 🙂

Maybe the controller cards are different? Can someone post pics of the controller cards from each model? Very interesting...

I remember someone posting an article where they tested the actual contrast ratio of a group of LCD monitors and most of them had higher contrast than advertised...

maybe the 1515 was discontunued and the 1512 took its place. Maybe they were just selling the 1515's until they were gone... Just a theory of course

Got my 1512

Hey, just an update and a Question for the CMV1515 and 1512 owners...

I got my CMV1512 from MS4ME a few days ago, and plugged it into my computer.

Compared to my old Gateway 17" CRT, the picture quality sucks.

I don't know if this is common but its really easy to see individual pixels/spaces on my LCD monitor. Everytime I scroll a webpage, solid colors flicker.

The screen door effect is easy to see on my desktop and webpages, but goes away somewhat when I watch the LOTR extended version with POWERDVD.

At first I thought this is what LCD screens were supposed to look like, then when I was at Office Max today I was looking at a Mitsubishi Diamond something and the LCD was on par with the CRT monitor right above it, they were both playing the same demo video.

I'm thinking it could be my video card... Its a Radeon 7000.

my desktop is set at XGA resolution, I have a AMDXP 1800+ and 512 MB of DDR2700 memory.

I'm interested in hearing opinions, expecially from owners of LCD monitors. Thanks

progress?

Is anyone with the CMV1512 done taking it apart? From what i've seen, seems like the only difference between the 1212 & and the 1515 is the contrast ratio and the power consumption. I wonder why the 1515 uses 12w less than the 1512. 400:1 CR is still a huge improvement over LCD projection panels. I'm thinking of getting the 1512 just because no one seems to have found a place (in the US) that is selling the 1515.
