Goldmund Mods, Improvements, Stability

OS, I am not mad at you and will deal with you in friendly terms no matter what. I'm not one to mince words, so I usually say things exactly how I see them. That's just me. Other people seem to have their own social conventions on what I "really" mean when I say something, and they are invariably wrong. I don't talk in riddles, I say what I mean, and if you feel you have to read between the lines you might want to ask me to clarify.

As some have pointed out, the regulator is not necessary, just a simple C-multiplier like something from the thread below, which much of my recent spare time has gone into.

http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/power-supplies/177516-keantokens-cfp-cap-multiplier.html

Working in this thread has given me more ideas on the regulator. In the end, the regulator could quite possibly be more advanced than the amplifier. This is because we decided not to complexify the amplifier unless it would make it sound better.

I saw someone had made a PCB and intended to test out the amp, so I wanted to wait for the trials and tribulations before I made any decisions I would later have to revise.

I am not quitting this by any means, but again, the end result depends on the cooperation of the community.

Why is part of the part number scratched off those transistors ?
Those are just the same output FETs as the VBAIEH thread nothing new.🙄

But in addressing the Dead Thread issue...

can we agree to build something SOON?

Can we set a soft target date as to PCB finished and either home brewed or cheap board shop fab...

Personally I would just dread the thoughts and expertise going to waste on what started out so grand in its world wide scope...

So lets set some deadlines that will not hurt anyone, but also will put some heart and heat into this endeavor, maybe some sweat too.😀

Time is money and I am broke...😡😛

I am working on a PCB... IF anyone is near finished with one, pull my chain and I will stop where I am.

THANKS to everyone...🙂

ah, I see you have taken selfpromotion to the next level 😀

Just stated a fact. Many threads around here lead to arguments , personal attacks , trolling , they do not end in anything DIY . Those I mentioned drop full projects like mouse turds on a weekly basis. (Some) are also open to changes/improvements without taking it as a attack on ego. Personally , if I was into "selfpromotion", I would of drained this WHOLE forum of knowledge , produced "mystery" amps with no schematics (like a certain few recent threads) and profited off of the boards/kits. 😀

Yes, OS, this forum has now become a place to argue rather than a place to do any DIY or gain any new knowledge - it's depressing! Your work is a beacon of achievement & I congratulate you & some others for bringing us back to this spirit. Well done!

dont get me wrong
Its very clear that Ossie have reached a higher level
And with impressive pace, designing, constructing, testing and all
His own surprice and excitement is obvious too
impressive and positive, sure

Ossie, I hope you will realise that the next level is teaching
Thats what is needed, in the long run

I know my awkward comment was "off", and not so clever
especially not when my wishes are to get away all this personal stuff
well, maybe I intentionally attracted your attention
no wonder I often end up as punchball 😛
heck, Im just a stupid mod (read humble, please)

I hope this is good enough, and that we move on
with the best intentions

Ossie, your latest work is no doubt a huge inspiration to many people
above the ordinary, no doubt

Thank you , guys. I will not get a swelled head. I will make the board for this one if anyone wants me to. The only reason I haven't already done so already is 3 reasons.
1. I don't want to include the regulator on board because some may want a single supply project , it is better to give the constructor the choice.

2. I know I can make up to a 8 device to-3p / to-247 board , single sided (with the voltage stage ) at 200 X 100mm. Single sided can be for the toner transfer hobbyist or as commercial group buy quality. (I am against double- sided)

3. Where I originally diverged from this thread ... the amp !! While KT's emitter based beta enhancement MAY work , the time proven "standard way" (ampslab, mine) is a better bet. If only because there are several hundred ampslab BI240's out there and I have actually prototyped a similar topology.
Not to mention, JUST the ability/option to apply TMC to the VAS , which was dismissed as a outright assault on stability (oscillator).

If we can agree or compromise on these points , The board is 3-4 hours down the road .. Really. 🙂

BTW , if someone want's to know what is best , I really don't absolutely know.. truthfully. But , by looking at the closest existing commercial kit , High End Power Amps - AmpsLab
I would bet on it as it is not a dream .. and of course we will be using the FET's for both the input and output.

My "take" on all of this is below... actually, I get way better specs than the ampslab in simulation. in real life with the fets and parasitics I should be at least on par with the BI240 while having the "magic sound" of the laterals. (see schema/LT asc below - exicon lateral models).

y' all must choose (pix 1 -vertical board) or (pix 2 - horizontal board).
Pix 1 will fit a 5" (125mm) high 200mm or longer heatsink and pix 2 will fit a 3" (76mm) heatsink for a lower profile. I will add the LTP /VAS to the boards , huge filter caps, split ground and supply fastons. The secondary supplies will be jumperable to allow for just single unregulated operation.
