Thanks again, for all the nice comments.
I have some spare MKP's from AudynCap, but haven't tryed them yet. Is it worh? Should be.
They will work fine, Audyn caps are very good.
what kind of soundcard do you have btw?
A generic soundblaster is it. Any suggestions for a better sounding card? I would like to have a better one.
have you use PDIP packaged buf634 in your buffer?
It is the TO220 case with small cliponheatsinks. The buffers are running in wide bandwith.
From the downloads of the preamp internals pic, I recon it is fairly
interesting to people right now. Here is a closer pic of the PSU boards in case it could be inspirational to someone🙂
Complete description is found on Nuuk's very good homepage:
http://www.decdun.fsnet.co.uk/gainclonepre.html#gcprepsu1 As said, it is a very quiet supply, it is made with seperat feeds for right and left channels. Great supply.

Steen🙂

Chaintech VIA ENVY 24PT-$25. Use the VIA reference drivers, make sure your using the 24 bit channels. Its screwy, for some reason they decided to put the 24 bit channels as the rear ones, but can be corrected by driver. This card cant be beat for the money.

Tweeker, thanks for the suggestion. I will look into that and see if it is possible to get one in DK.
Now I'm out the door for a evening fishing trip
You Norwegian guys are so lucky!! Al that magificent water to fish in. I was in Norway several times, flyfishing for salmon🙂 What an experience. My biggest yet was 10 kg. (22 pounds) Taken on fly.
I would not kill a salmon again though, but release him! The salmon runs are decreasing in an alerting way. Sad. This was a bit OT though:xeye: To get back on thread, I am quite amazed by the VSPS phonostage that was built in to this preamp. For such a simple circiut it sounds pretty good🙂 See this thread:
http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=33555 . Here is one more pic, showing the VSPS.

Steen.🙂

Edit,
Have you listened to the zener+emitter follower and compared it against Nuuk's dicrete reg?
No, unfortunately I didn't yet. I had a little trouble fitting the zener/emitter follower in to the small chassis, as I planned.

Steen, could you please tell me a litle about those headphones?

i'm being told beyerdynamics are among the best there is, not counting electrostatics..
i having a hard time deciding wether to put my money into a pair of headphones or a pair of speakers..

could you please tell me a litle about those headphones?
Hi there Marius🙂 Yes headphones..... I have tried a few of those. The ones on the pic are Beyerdynamics DT880. They sound great, to say the least. I also have a pair of Stax electrostatics, but they are quite old now. The Beyerdynamics rocks😉 The electrostats used to sound better, but I guess they need an overhaul somewhere!! But they are not cheap!!!! You better make up your mind if you want new speakers or a set of headphones:xeye: I have a lot of pleasure with those Beyerdynamics, Meaning that your environment doesnt have to suffer when you are listening to music at high levels😀 I can recommend the Beyer's. Quite an experience😉 I payed about 2500.- dkr for them. But I did listen to a few cheaper Beyers as well, and they all sounded great. The DT880's was just too good to turn down! I guess you can safely take a cheaper pair as well!
Hope this helps, or you can come down to DK and have a listen for yourself😉

Steen.😎

Well, headphones with velour pads have got to be good, just to bad thy are so damn expensive.

well, my slightly modded koss ur20 are actually holding it's own pretty good, tested them up against a pair of sennheiser 2122 pro or something, cost 900nok anyways, and i found the koss to be much more clean and homogenious, the sennheisers just had to much fat flabby bass. something the koss'es decisivly dont have.

oh well, sorry for going OT on you, but its allways nice with a litle chat 🙂

I agree with the chat thing! Isnt that what a forum is all about? Well, I have heard that the Grado headphones are quite good and not so expensive, but I didn't have a chance to listen to any myself yet. Also you have to consider a headphone amp to drive your headphones!!! I can indeed recommend the PMA buffer set up to the purpose!! What a soundstage and control overall! It sounds great!

Steen, it's almost done, i'm just in the process of creating the bypassed rectifier board(wheatstone bridge?) with mur 1520's, and 0.33uf polyester caps. i'm indeed looking forward to have a testdrive with this beauty.

oh, but i guess you already know, those pics i sent you..

and the microcontrolled inputselector is comming together as well..
it would seem it's a pre i'm making..

now, just wished i had some tubes..
