I'm not having any luck inserting two ffc cables into a connector to make it longer and I am running out of connectors. Is there a type of glue that can do the job (soldering for me is out of the question) or will the contacts short on each other???
can't get 2 FFC in socket
Are you trying to use the type of FFC socket with a hinged flap? Those are very weak. I have used Molex vertical ZIF SMT sockets with a part that you push into the connector to lock it. Very strong!
The only issue with these is to make sure the two cables are aligned very well as you lock the connector. No problem at all to get two FFCs in when the locking part is all the way out.
mouser.com and digikey.com sell them for <$2 US each.

I managed to get the FFC and extension into the socket (from Lumenlab), but didnt even attempt to close the hinge, after trying the lcd (it worked!) i made clamp out of old electronic hobby kit construction parts. pictures and progress: http://www.mydiyprojector.blogspot.com/ I also used glue to keep the cable on the circuit board.
