gluing ffc cables together?

I'm not having any luck inserting two ffc cables into a connector to make it longer and I am running out of connectors. Is there a type of glue that can do the job (soldering for me is out of the question) or will the contacts short on each other???

Hey I got you a simple solution - hope it helps. You can get everything at Walmart.

can't get 2 FFC in socket

Are you trying to use the type of FFC socket with a hinged flap? Those are very weak. I have used Molex vertical ZIF SMT sockets with a part that you push into the connector to lock it. Very strong!

The only issue with these is to make sure the two cables are aligned very well as you lock the connector. No problem at all to get two FFCs in when the locking part is all the way out.

mouser.com and digikey.com sell them for <$2 US each.
