Does a preamp with high gain count as input stage?

I would say yes, as an example, any preamp able to drive an F4 would be perfect. I believe you already have an AKSA Lender

Anything that can make the ops produce ~10w into your speakers is considered ok.
So even an Iron Pre could be good if you have a powerful source in front of it.
I use my Iron Pre with a rme dac(that gives 4-5vrms) as a source and for my small room it does nicely the job.


For me it’s important that you will use these and enjoy them as I do!
