Actually, TOSHIBA produce a pair of 2SC5200-0/2SA1943-0 with mica together, and I put the original photo of 5200 to let you have a look.

Some people will use simillar funtion transistor to fake 5200, but you look the face of 5200 and see if it is laser typing.

Sorry this jpg file not compact.

Attached is scanned image of two 'Toshiba' 2SC5200-O from six just purchased fron Farnell inone UK.

Also for reference two genuine Toshiba 2SC3281. My previous 2SC5200 are in prototypes and cannot be photographed - they look just like the 2SC3281 with symmetrical pins and very shiny smooth metal backs.

Anyone seen anything like these new to me 2SC5200 before - the back are a soft white metal and one has a black paint run down it.

More fakes I wonder, but from Farnell !!!

Cheers ........... Graham.

Now not many company produce 2SC5200/2SA1943 as TOSHIBA's quality is good and price as well. And other company dont have strength for that. TOSHIBA possesses over 95% or 99% in the market, at least in my country.

And I think no factory produce 2SC5200/2SA1943 in China due to the technology and price problem, except fake one.

I think I have already seen this signature with three diagonal arrows in some 'alternative' 2SJ50 and 2SK135 devices I bought sometime ago, when the original Toshiba ones were discontinued long ago

Also, I think there are lots of companies currently manufacturing 2SC5200 clones/fakes and others selling raw '2SC5200' dies, check this out :

http://jingxin.en.alibaba.com/produ...__Silicon_PNP_NPN_Power_Transistor_Wafer.html

I have nothing against China or India, nor against alternative manufacturers. But if they want to clone Toshiba or Sanken devices and gain good reputation with that, they must manufacture them with comparable quality instead of making unusable stuff. Otherwise, they will be allways known as 'those m***er *u**ers manufacturing s**t'

Actually, the packaging of 2SA1295 /2SC3264 is not TO-3 is called MT-200. I put the photo of 2SA1494/2SC3858 with same packaing of MT-200.

Check if the transistor is fake or not, you just see the typing on the face. The origianl one's typing used laser and clearer.

My fake collection :

sanken_fakes.jpg

'F', 'R', 'B' are obviously invalid hFE ranking letters
The '8F' ones have a diminute die, the '4RB' ones have a bigger die but still much smaller than the originals. Both were covered with white silicone

An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.

Not much to say here, these are classic fakes...

Lots of wasted money :bawling: :bawling: :bawling:

The extra copper plate [in addition to the TO3-P plate] used by Sanken enhances DC and pulse SOA, altough not all models use them. TO-3 devices from ON-Semi use a similar copper plate between the die and the steel case. I think I have some fake and genuine Sanken 2SC3264 and 2SA1295 already opened but I didn't remember where I put them...🙄 🙄

Unless I'm wrong, the C3264/A1295 pair features too big a die to fit inside a TO3-P package

I bought a dozen of these 2SC5200 from ebay seller thaishopetc. Looks good and sounds good. $ 1.40 each, and rather low shipping cost. The seller has a wide range of electronic components on his list, and none of the fancy stuff one sees from some h.k sellers etc. I would not be surprised if he uses good sources for the stuff. He also has a very good feedback rate

The Magnatec ones are apparently genuine. I have enquired with RS about them and they assured me that they are genuine and understand why I was asking

Also, Fairchild now have a 2SA1943/2SC5200 pair, also sold as FJL4215/4315, which at least simulate very well.

Hi,

I have seen a lot about the fairchild substitute, do we get them directly from Fairchild or ... even Farnell sells fakes (1 st few post). I think there is a cross-reference page for fairchild products and their 'originals', can anyone kindly point the direction?

How to 'measure' 2sc5200, 2sc1943 if they are fakes? I have
some with me and wonder if they are fakes or how good they are inorder to use them somewhere instead of just throwing them away, polluting Mr. Earth.

Tks

Hi jaycee,
You can buy them directly from Fairchild which is probably the best way to assure you're getting what your paying for
Absolutely!
Or you can buy from their authorized distributors. That's just as good if that distributor has taken measures against putting returns into stock without careful examination. Digikey is one who does.
