GB for Salas Folded Simplistic Phono PCB

My signature now has next GB spreadsheet. You can add yourself in as RAW PSU column.

Others who have asked me to sign them up, can go in and edit if they want extra parts beside boards.

Hi TB.

What is exactly in the kits? How would you describe the 2sk170bl kit?
Are they matched or just the amount needed? If the Vishay naked VAR's are the top ones and the very much as it seems prefered ones in some positions (R1-14, riia stage and possibly elsewhere) - give us a quote on these.
No need to go for the second best if the preferred is the standard.

Is there any way the RAW PSU board could be made so it accepts screw connect type capacitors as well as snap ins.

I thought of that but I avoided it. Its one or the other really, the bigger holes would exclude snap ins, or the board would get larger to offset them. No need to use larger capacitors when 10mm pitch Φ 35mm 4700/63 snap ins are everywhere, fresh production, many are economical, and very good quality. No screws to loosen up. Nichicon KG, even Mundorf AG etc. I advise fresh capacitors in any case.

Anyone with experience on Rubycon USR's 4700/63... Usable or should I shop?

I mean better use electrolytes that many others have used with favorable feedback. Like Nichicon, Panasonic, Mundorf, Philips, BHC, etc.

Ok, back into the drawer they'll go as I'm going shopping again :-(

Well, I might not... As a starter anyway. In my oldish new interrest for a few years back I bought some Silmics outta this World - (they don't exist 🙂 but I ain't sure they never existed)

ELNA Silmic II's 3300uF/50V - haha. Perfect timing to check these out.

What should we do with the old stuff, embed them into olio del serpente maybe and sell them on ebay? Nah, I'll buy miself an LCR of good quality which I'll probably will save alot of real cash on. But then again it won't have my ears... As does anyone else.

If he got them caps why recommend him to buy another brand?

Never mind - I can buy the prefered ones. They have been tested and so on. The ones I got might look good on paper but isn't tested in this application. I will get the perefered ones and roll caps. No problem. Hopefully I get the (as I believe) fake silmics to use 🙂

The ears will decide.

So if you had the same specs in another brand you would have baught the other brand and tested first? I wouldnt. I would test the ones i have first. But of course, every deviation could run a long why why why thread so I dont blame you. Test the ones you have and replace if problems is my advice. Why let decent electrolyt rot.

Use them now, compare them later. No need to delay building.😉

Missförstå mig inte 🙂!

I will have use of the prefered ones even if time shows that I prefer the ones I have. They will find their Place in another Project for sure.

My problem is that I haven't had the time to find an accurate computerized LCR meter (haven't even looked for one but surely they exist for an small amount these days...). They will probably not rot in my lifetime 🙂 expecting at least 30 more years 🙂
