Agreed Patrick,
Personally i think both options, all black and no bezel wont look good, original design with the Xen logo on top lid is elegant as this Preamp deserves.
All Black will be featureless at a distance but to each his own, i will remove the Xen logo from those cases that are not 100% original design.

CeeVee will tell you that all matt silver is A LOT more difficult to do than black.
Anything defekt you can hide with black will show up in silver.
Which is also why a lot of people use sand blast and not brushed.
Same reason.

....you mean brushed and matt anodized ( acid ) ?
Oh yes that is the more dificult but black tone has to be uniform.

...Can I still purchase a set of chassis to participate in the group buy? Really wanted a set of these. Thank you.
If needed hereby I confirm my participation to this project, beacuse I dont see my contribuitions as confirmed yet in the first post
Anodizing option are not by default, the cases not conforming to Patrick's original design will not have XEN logo as they are not approved by Patrick (EUVL ).
As long as CeeVee has not started machining, anyone whose payment is confirmed for the PCB GB is entitled to participate in the case GB.
But by missing payment deadlines, you make lifes difficult for us to administrate.
You have to appreciate that we do this for love of DIY, not for money.
We have better means to make a living.
Cheers,
Patrick

Thanks Stefano,
As Patrick so rightly says, when we start machining the preamp cases no more interested parties will be considered.
It´s too complicated for one or 2 cases.
We are already doing the F5X Amp and that has a very specific limit so no changes to the 10 case limit will be entertained.
work has started on this and as soon as these leave shop to be anodized...Preamp will start.
It's a labor of love ....for DIY .
Please understand.

ok, all your arguments bring me back to the original cases. The main reason was, that I already built a Soekris DAC in a complete black case...
CeeVee: you have PM

You may want to build a XEN DAC with a matching case one day.

Patrick
Is someone hinting at a future project in the works?... 🙂
