Yes Bob, we use the same terms. Blowers and superchargers (almost the same) and turbochargers are all types of forced induction, but only the professors use that term.
I can't help but think the gas companies are yanking our cranks. It went up to the 1.90's per litre then back down to 1.75 per litre while expecting another 6 cent drop in the coming few days. So it went up for nothing? They just keep those millions that got sucked out of our wallet those few days with the increase? I suppose so. They make the rules we just have to live with them or don't drive. Thats the option lol.

Back in the day my crowd used to call the Paxton centrifugal as ‘supercharged’ …..basically accessory belt driven turbo.
Superchargers use mechanical drive, mostly belts, to force more air into the cylinders, compression goes up. Blower / compressor, mostly single stage.
Turbocharger use the exhaust gas to spin a turbine, which has the compressor / blower on the same shaft to force in air.
The difference is in the way they are supplied with mechanical power.

Guys, it's not a problem with cars and petrol price, but with big consumers like schools, hospitals, industry.... We do not see that, but for some, the gas bills in the EU have more than doubled. Without gas the industry is dead. How to continue the business now so that they are not in the red, difficult and not at all. Rising prices are the only way out, which in turn leads to inflation.
The EU has so far pushed for gas as a cheap and green energy source. In my city, the EU has funded several such projects that are now unprofitable and what now. To switch to heat pumps you need to start from the beginning and it is not fast and cheap. And electricity should be produced somehow, it will not be cheap anymore.
And here we are in trouble and without a car.

You have to think frugal, many processes are energy intensive in the Western world.
I see people here who do not switch off their amplifiers, and the use of space heating is expensive as far as energy is concerned.
The Japanese are much more frugal because they are taught from childhood that the energy is imported and expensive, as a result the machines they make use much less energy than the European machines.
Long term, machines will lose market share if they are expensive to use compared to their competitors.
But tell me if there is no gas, that means no money paid, is it not?

Try Google image search on "blown engine" and "engine blower". Some eye candies there in either category.
Heat pumps are becoming more popular in new construction and even retrofitting, but they're still expensive so the ROI is not great but the pollution count is a lot better than gas so there's still incentive.
On the bright side. How many people, in the last few days, decided there next car will be electric.
Who doesn't prefer that.

I’m about as close to wilderness as one can get but coastal living (in the US) and wilderness only coexist in Alaska for the most part……too much arthritis for that! 😉

I hear that FL is gaining population. A friend of mine just moved there and decided to switch his job from engineer to realtor because the real estate market is picking up so fast in FL.
