Take another stab at it!!!
Great! I'm sure one day you'll look back at this, and you'll be glad you didn't quit.
I'm sure you can do it because you put together those much more complicated velleman kit. There was a few "hiccups" but you got it working in the end.
You should post a schematic of the entire circuit, including the power supply.
It's probably just something small you overlooked. I was doing a microcontroller project at school that was decently complicated, but we couldn't get it to work. We had about 6 guys trying to debug it, checking all the connections, when finally we realized the master reset pin (active low) of the uC wasn't tied high. Totally stupid and obvious, but everybody missed it.
You'll get it going...
Ok, officially this stuff is not for sale any longer!

Re: another site
But indeed keep on trying, i've also blown a klone (yes reversing plus and minus). But when you're finished and done you not only have something to listen to, but you can also explain to people why you actually build it yourself and not collect it in the store... Oh yeah and if you have i nice answer which is both short and convincing tell me please, because my "because its fun" does not seem to cut it for a lot of people.
So what are you saying you are the 4th nice Dutch guy 😉 and here i thought all of us dutchies were known for our bluntness (yes and the fact that we are cheap (trying to deal with open doors here))...ErikdeBest said:I have to confess I am surprised there are so many Dutch guys replying, and all of them are SO nice...

Hi Elizard,
Well you did not read the thread called "moderating"

Never mind , there are indeed a lot of friendly guys here, and some gals too....😉 🙂
I already cleaned the Moderating thread. I wouldn't be concerned with that too much Elso. Some people just needed that extra dose of excitment in there lifes😉.

Hi Peter,
Yes I just noticed, we can read on and get more excitement in the "this is all going terribly wrong" thread.
😉
Audiofanatic, I never have a flag, I am not that nationalistic😉
I felt that the title was appropriate. Sooner or later it will end up in Texas anyway. I just didn't want to do that yet, because some people might feel disappointed and also we don't want to use cencorship unless we can't really avoid it..
O Peter what is your experience with the isolated version of these chips? Do they need special care? And is it common that the isolated versions are cheaper than there non-isolated versions?

The thermal resistance of the isolated version is 1 degree per watt higher than the non-isolated.

I didn't try the isolated version, since without a thick aluminum oxide washer, I couldn't fit the feedback resistor in the usual spot.
But I think it might sound different, since damping of a chip is different. I tried silpad once and comparing to aluminum oxide, the sound was less airy.
O well only one way to find out then... I will try it and compare it to the non-isolated versions.
Thanks anyway

Gainclone - Me too!
Glad to hear you are going to build this. I am also going to build one with isolated package chips, as I heard these don't get too hot under normal use anyway and got the chips cheaply. Please let us know how this turns out and if you have any problems with the isolated package!

well i went through re-wiring my PS yesterday
not finished yet, still more work left 🙂
i imagine i'll receive chips from peter later this week, so i'll be done by next week probably 🙂
