Thanks Brian,

That is all the picture there is. I borrowed this camera and I hated it. It is a Vivitar Vivicam.20 and is really useless. I really do need a digital camera but I spent the money on good transformers instead.

Thank you and your other half again for the group buy efforts.
Chris

Chris,

I put your pictures in the gallery:

why T and TF versions of the kits?

Brian,

I'm holding out of the next batch of the Premium kit, but can you tell me why you offer both the T and TF versions of the kits?

Are there any advantages/disadvantages (especially sonic)?

Regards Bern.

I like to give people the choice of the package. Recently, people have seemed to prefer the TF package for sonic reasons, and 90% of the orders have been for the TF package. If the chips are to be bridged, the T package has significantly better heat dissipation properties, making it a better choice for higher power applications.

I am currently using the TF package, and it works great.

Here's a pic of the gainclone my dad and I made. Its for his office and for his birthday. Caps are Panasonic HFQ (predessesor to FC I think) 1200uf 63v, holco input resistors, BC 1% other resistors, i used a regular bridge rectifier 35A 400v for this application, and i used the transformer from an old Sherwood receiver...and the heatsink and the feet are also from the receiver. Total cost to me was about $40, and I could have done it even cheaper. 2 sets of inputs with a toggle switch between the two, radioshack 100k pot, blue led, bud aluminum chassis (surplus), steel mesh top cut w/ a dremel and finished w/ rustoleum metalic paint, gold plated inputs and outputs, silver solder throughout. Was fun project...more like it coming just for the heck of it 🙂 Sounds just fine to me, maybe I'll get to do a direct comparison w/ my Holton Monoblocks next weekend. Later!

Here are some pics of my PD-Clone. I'm sure the fit and finish aren't what you would get from an original, but I'm satisfied with my prototype. I used 1/4" x 3" aluminum all around and cherry for the side panels. I'm making do with an RS potentiometer for now and I still need to make a selection for the feet and the volume knob. I hooked it up to an old Denon CD player and a pair of AR25 speakers from my high school days. I couldn't find any excess speaker wire, so I used some 14-3 romex. I've only listened to ~1/2 a CD, but I'm very happy with the sound; tight and fast.

Cigar Box GC Finished

Brian,
Here is my finished cigar box gainclone built with your boards. The power supply is a single CT transformer. The power umbilical connectors are Molex and the umbilical carries V+, PG+, V-, PG- and safety ground.

The amp has volume control and input selector with jacks for four sources.

The guts

Here is a pic of the inside of the amp. I lined the inside of both cases with aluminum tape for RF/EMI shielding. It seems to work as the amp has no hum even up close to the speakers with the volume up.

Hi Brian!

I sendt you some pictures of an amp I buildt for a friend. I don`t know if you got them.

The amp was originally using the opa541, but since we never got it sounding right we converted into a LM3875 amp using one set of the PCBs you sendt me.

My friend buildt the case, and I did all of the soldering.

I haven`t listened to it yet, but the owner claims it sound wonderful

Regards

Tor Martin🙂

Hey Sherman & Tor M...

Sherman---Where did the aluminum tape come from & does it conduct electricity--e.g. is it real aluminum?

Tor M--What is lining that box--is it copper flashing used in house construction? & where does it come from?

Please don't say Chicago & Norway, respectively.😉

TIA,
Bret Morrow
