The metal will also shield the innards.
Personally I think this is a stupid mod, based on the more esoteric audiophile beliefs, it is also dangerous and could be the cause of a fire or some other damage.

I will acknowledge that the "other side" let themselves down, by harking to mysterious, unfathomable elements. T'would be far better that they say, "Here is something, it works for us, we're not sure why, try it and see what it does for you ...".
Only been repeated nano-times .... 🙂
The silk is linseed oil soaked, and the potting agent is beeswax.
There should be no free space (unlike original electro), so mechanical damping would likely be improved wrt original assembly.
This is a close to zero cost that pays nice dividends, according to the creator - Studio Zèy
Worth trying one day, what's to lose.
I would choose timber other than pine though...some Aus hardwoods come to mind.

So what if the cap life is foreshortened, or that wax impurities/permeability causes other effects.
Just for fun.

Some claim that 'skinning' (removing the heatshrink label) changes the sound of electros.

Sorry, I didn't notice that the metal was also removed. That is truly crazy - which may be why I didn't notice it. Silly me, fancy ignoring something on an audio website because it was just too crazy to be happening!marce said:The metal will also shield the innards.

The nutcase writes on his homepage that he obtained a masters in computer science & econometrics.
An indication that he has zero knowledge with regard to the manufacture of electronic parts.
He also enjoys automobiles, in particular an Italian sports car brand.
An indication that he may enjoy the gift of money.
Both indicators may be clues to why he charges 40 quid and up for an ER-wrapped invistor : the resistor that makes your pecunia vanish into thin air.

As Jacco points out, never believe anything an economist tells you. If you put ten of them in a room and ask them what happened yesterday, you will get at least eleven answers.
( Takes one to know one. Guilty)

Now why should I? They are just about the least expensive and repairable multi channel amps on Ebay, have you looked? Perhaps partly due to this thread and you not renouncing this silly stuff. They are well designed, have good numbers and in fact very inexpensive now.
I think that a double blind test would 'PROVE' that you don't need a Parasound amp to not hear any differences. Perhaps you should shop for something cheaper.

If you ever wanted to see people with more money than sense then look at the photo in the above link. Soon after of course they had neither.

Audio Quest says all audio cables are directional and you have to listen them to determine which is the best way to use them. Sigh. They did not used to be that bad.

More than 5 years ago , I was very cable curious. Looking at Nordost Red Dawn and some digital s/p dif. Salesman was telling me (while I read the shiny cable box) with the Orpheus headset, and the Nordost "loom" , one could hear the paint peel.
Had to point out to the salesman that all his cables arrows followed source to speaker path, but the literature said Nordost arrows should all point from speakers to source.
So that would be snake oil flowing uphill?
Now that does sound medieval.😀..............steamin idiots,......................
