Funniest snake oil theories

Don't get me started. It looks to me that the population is dumbed down by design. A few minutes with a TV confirms my suspicion. I literally can't stand more than ten minutes in a room with a TV on. My brains start dripping out of my ears. The soundtracks are.... torturous and stupefying.

And let's not talk about what is happening to our education. I just found out that in my home state of Illinois that educators are not allowed to say the word "evolution" in the classroom. They can teach the facts of biology, but no "E" word because some fundie religious freak might get butthurt. Radical theocrats ("Christian Nationalists") have taken over the school boards.

What next? Flat earth? Gravity is fake? Don't say the "G" word in the classroom? I... am... so furious.
Naaa, FSM is the modern church FSM the real religion

Supposing you have a virtual box, 2 foot cube, inside the box there are hundreds of spheres moving in random directions and at different speeds, some going towards the centre of the box, some going from one side to anouther, some going away from the centre of the box. None are at the same point. now after a few hours, some spheres will have left the box, some still inside. A few hours later almost all will have left the box, the fastest moving would most likely be furthest away, the slowest closest to the box, some might have used gravity to slingshot around other spheres to change direction. You'd end up with how the Universe is now, lots of galaxies, generally moving away, the fastest the farthest away, but none originated from the same point of the result of an explosion - but if you hadn't seen the beginning, you would assume that the movement was caused by a - big bang.
But, it's does not fit with observations. Just as debunked as Fritz Zwicky's theory of "tired light"
Next theory please !

People don't understand physics, especially relativity and cosmology.

But so many people pretend to understand it. In the USA this is because the facts of cosmology and relativity (and evolution) are perceived to threaten religion, because to many people religion means the earth is 6000 years old and people lived with dinosaurs. This is why so many people pretend to understand science, and they make a mockery of it. In reality I think they don't care at all if what they claim is true. These people (apparently 38% of Americans) are so ignorant and myopic that apparently they don't think it's important for medical professionals to know the facts of biology. And they will fight to the death to obscure and banish demonstrable science, since what's really important to them is absolute hegemony of their chosen religion.

So science must be banned from society and academia. This is the mindset in the USA now. We are so screwed.

It's odd. Most things that happen in US society make it across the pond pretty swiftly, but the theory of evolution isn't the least controversial here. We even have Charles Darwin on our banknotes.

And you have a separation of Church and State, whereas we're 'officially' Christian.

Your jazz is better than ours, though.

We really don't have separation of church and state any more. In fact, the spin is that the founding fathers didn't intend this, even though they were very explicit about it. Historical revisionism is the rule here and not the exception.

I have to agree with you about our jazz. It keeps getting better.

Actually, the people who are most certain that science is wrong tend to be the most intelligent. That's because intelligent people are better than average at thinking up a long list of all the reasons why they are right, even when they are wrong.

Intelligent people are always skeptical. That doesn't mean they are "certain that science is wrong." In most cases, certainty is the result of dogmatic thinking and not intelligence.

There's not much I'm certain of. I am certain that religious fundamentalists are wrong about science. And they are certain that their unfounded claims are 100% true.

Stupid people are more certain than intelligent people across the board.

OK, now I get it. You are pushing those antiscientific nonsensical views regarding e.g. bybees or audiophile switches because you are more intelligent than the rest of us.

Got a cite for this, or are you just trying to pass off your personal notions as facts (again)? (Or is this bit of nonsense intended to be humorous?)
