Yup, old trick, scare people into forking over their money. In audio,

Seems to be a lot of those wabbit holes around here lately. Must be the season.
Used to be in the late fall because people were busy with travel during summer. Something did change last couple of years. 🤔
Seems to be a lot...
Mr. Harmonics has been quite clear there is only one way to perform listening tests, and that's his way. He's just wrong, is all. No point in taking bait about it.
Around here, people use drugs and alcohol to "self-medicate"...
I grew up as a child/teen on Maxwell House - Original Roast, and still like it even today.American coffee? 😵
I grew up as a kid with Maxwell House, too. Worst / cheapest coffee they sold. Even Folgers was better but that's what my parent's bought.
I swear No Name coffee is better 🙂
These days, surprisingly, I'm drinking McCafe most of the time. I have some Starbucks right now, too.

Hello. I've been awaiting some replacement stylii for a couple of different cartridges, including an AT88e. I've been impressed with an old Sony cartridge with a conical stylus, and a Denon branded AT3600L, as well as the same from a Dual.I returned to vinyl to hear some old favourites, with a not too cheap new Dual turntable.
It sounded good, but was chewing up my new records.
Research showed the stock cartridge as having a conical stylus.
A vintage AT88e cartridge with an elliptical stylus was a big step up, as is a new Shure cartridge
, also with an elliptical stylus.
Maybe it's not magic, but instead a different stylus point profile hitting a groove a different shaped stylus point damaged, playing back with somewhat lower noise.
Not as sexy to a marketer as all new high tech design and materials, but it's all I come up with in the time it takes to type this.
Have you heard any of these with an elliptical stylus on them, in comparison with the AT88e?
I'm currently liking a stock Nagaoka MP110, but its hours are getting well past 1000.
These related with how reading head servo movement modulates with the power supply and ground.Look here on Techmoans youtube channel!
Having a (industrial) lathe at hand, I thought that I'd give it a go, the CD vibrated terribly anyway. Afterwards there was no difference, however I did notice that it had started to corrode near the edge. It is possible I took too much off though, with not enough rake angle on the tool. As far as I can remember, Techmoans conclusion was it didn't make a lick of difference.
Per a recent thread, "that dreaded SMT sound" in reference to metal-film resistors.
I tried watching that the other week but gave up screaming after a few minutes. He gave it waaaaaay too much benefit of the doubt for something so blatantly BS, up to and including making up dodgy hypotheses (noise? jitter? in the forward error correction) as to how it could work.Look here on Techmoans youtube channel!
It would have been an excellent opportunity to describe how digital signal chains actually work, including the quantisation, FEC, buffering, etc. Even the simplest understanding of those mechanisms puts the lie to this sort of thing.
Least it hasn’t been eaten and pooped out, dried and sold as aficionado coffee.. there’s a furry and a bird version.I grew up as a kid with Maxwell House, too. Worst / cheapest coffee they sold. Even Folgers was better but that's what my parent's bought.

mellow bird's was the only coffee I have found worse than Maxwell house. Having flash backs to coffee made with mellow bird's and coffee mate powdered creamer.

Hehe instant makes me gag. Stale beans made my coffee machine ‘gag’ due o not having enough backpressure to stop the water being forced through the spring. Maybe 4-5days max after roasting.
I’ve not had caffeine since May.. sleep better but miss the ceremony.
