Funniest snake oil theories

Me too. The extreme weather (hot and cold) dry out the caulk and shrink any gaskets. Two outlets face the south with zero shade at any time of day. Ten years is all I get.

I use that GE Silicone dark grey caulk for outdoor use.
I sealed up the crack between my front steps and doorway back in 2008, and it's still good.
It seems better than the standard GE white or clear stuff that's for indoor use like sealing around the bathtub.

Forget the standard latex type caulk.

Useful tip.

If the engine oil was described as quantum nano solder serum, treated by exposure to a secret process that involved bombarding the oil with radio waves of a specific wavelength that is uniquely able to rearrange the molecular structure and alter the quantum properties, and (very importantly) was a bargain at only €798 per 5ml phial, THAT would be snake oil.

You said quantum twice, and nano once, so it's definitely snake oil. 😛
