First rule of advertising: Take your worst attribute and advertise it.
If your quality is terrible, advertise how great it is. ( "Quality is job...")
If your performance is terrible, advertise it as the best performing thing ever.
Etc.
Yes indeed! I've been pointing out this first rule of advertising to friends and family for years. Few have ever noticed it. "Oh yeah.... you're right!" When you start seeing adverts thru that lens, it's pretty funny.

How come that upon reading this the first two things that came to my mind were 'full-range' speakers with whizzer-coned drivers and flea-powered SET amps?

By the way anybody got an asbestos suit for sale? I might need one soon...

'cause you don't know what sounds good? 😉

"Good" is such a relative and subjective term but to my ears whizzer cones are a truly terrible way to 'reproduce' treble.
Lowthers for example are by far the worst high $ speakers I have ever heard and no other driver since has managed to convince me that whizzers have any merit.

As for flea-powered SETs I simply don't know what to do with an an amp that has more distortion than my speakers and would run out of juice driving my tweeters. Mind you they do make excellent amps for guitar players who want to remain on speaking terms with their next-door neighbours. ;-)

Surely audio reproduction is the application of magic, by dedicated Guru's hand picking components by ear to tailor the sound, aided by moonlighting Professor's (from their day job discovering new and amazing quantum effects from a parallel universe), with fantastical components that would even amaze Dr Spock... I believe it is called the 'Art of Noise'
😀

Whoa check out the comments in this posting about Ted Denney
Ted Denney's Excellent Adventure | Stereophile.com

Seems the two clowns, lets call them C and G trying to defend Ted's products come up with some pretty funny ways of expressing it. Seems they just don't like anyone using their brain to figure out what is snake oil.🙄 Of course they don't own any of the things but they sure know how it sounds and why anyone who thinks it's snake oil is WRONG 😛 Funny stuff. No wonder they are on Stereophile's forums and not here.

You need a better SET and some speakers that aren't named "Power Soak", me thinks. 😉

And really - NIN and Audiophile? Seriously? What are people thinking? Isn't the whole point overdrive, distortion and annoying sounds? That's what sells, right?
