I saw these on Friday; they have a lovely finish on them. What was used on the wood? Some kind of oil?

I just saw these in person. They're incredible 😱
Much smaller than I inferred from this photo. Almost fits in the palm of your hand.
and kids, the sound?
compared to FR88EX / SS 10F?
Didn't listen to them. We listened to the EL70 sitting on top of the EL166 TL. You know the one. There was a picture around here somewhere I thought.
EDIT - Dang. You just reminded me we didn't listen to the SS 10F. I'd like to hear that.

Also our 1st test of Western Red Cedar as a box material,
dave
Very nice. What's the verdict on the cedar so far, Dave?
Would these sound OK in solid ASH?😕
you tell us 😉
I can say that I've only briefly listened to any of Bernie's solid wood boxes, which have mostly been for MA drivers, but the Locust / FF85WK are stupendously good
big trick of course is ensuring they stay together for a few seasons
I guess the question I should have asked was has anyone made a set in ash, and how did they sound.😱

Interesting. Thanks. I figured they were smallish, but yikes! So how's the low end? I love to think small can make big sound. My one experiment with small (4.5" pioneer fullrangers in a BD Pipes enclosure) was impressive re: low end. (sanded through the veneer on the chinese birch ply, as you can see, but I learned alot in the process).

This set was only running some TV softly in the background when I was there, Dave had company. What did you think of them? Similar to the version we heard last summer?

I liked the MTM from last summer better, but that doesn't mean anything. Dave was still working out the cross over. Even as we listened he was setting the trim on the bass. Otherwise they sounded great.
I wonder how it's going to all come together with the woofers pointed aft. I suppose they'll have to be crossed low enough for that to be a non-issue? The form-factor is much more attractive to me compared to the wide faced set.

Please publish its Impedance versus Frequency curve or function. What is the nature of the amp driving it? Is it a voltage or a current source? Thanks

I believe that the speaker mentioned was using the crossover that Dave Rosgaard (Dave R) had designed and that I soldered up (I think it was that speaker) at the meet.
I think that dave (P10) was later seen dancing around, using it as a boombox.
Breaking News!
I now have the evidence:

DaveR did the design (& execution of the series XO for CHBW + ERT26. I did the XO for the MTM (1 choke + 1 cap (+ bypass cap))

Hey dave,
Probably my poor memory. All I really remember is that I soldered some crossovers , DaveR was designing and you was busy doing something else.
Was that the same evening that we matched up all the eNABL'd drivers according to their final measured specs?
Sometimes it's a lot of work to have a great time.😀

and at our age (close to 200 collectively) it's even more work to reconstruct the memories thereof
well, actually all human memory is a construct, but let's not get metaphysical....
until August, then all bets are off
cheery bye😀
a propos of nothing
looking at the picture of Dave cavalierly humping those MTMs* reminds me that had a chance to hear the "woofT" ( push-push EL166/Woofer6) earlier today - if Mark doesn't reissue this driver with whatever model designation he decides, it'd be a waste of his versatile engineering talent
*ask him how he's feeling after another shift as furniture mover today 😉 (pretty soon Tysen will be able to lend a hand)

Looks like he might. Saw some photos on his forum. Hearing them is impressive. But you gotta hand some of the credit back to Dave and yourself for building/designing those cabs. I'd sure like to learn TL design one day.
Dave & Chris get no credit for the actual design, just the adaptaion, drawings, and execution. Scott does the TL designing.
