This may sound silly ...............
We talk of more energy produced than put in and therefore not possible.
However we are talking about energy states that we know of .
What if we are triggering some other mechanism that we currently do not know of where the "energy" equation still holds ??
The experiments seem to show that it "looks like " energy out is greater than energy in . So maybe another mechanism we are not currently aware of is at work.

As I once read, I can't remember where:
The three laws of thermodynamics -
1: You can't win
2: You can't break-even
3: You can't get out of the game
Phrased like that, they're easy to remember and understand...
Don't run, or you'll die tired.

Wikipedia:
Perpetual motion refers to a condition in which an object continues to move indefinitely without being driven by an external source of energy. In effect by its very definition, Perpetual Motion is a system wherein the item in question consumes and outputs at least 100% of its energy constantly, sustaining no net loss as a result of the laws of thermodynamics.

I hope there will be something like free energy or cold fusion or something like that, though it is hard for me to believe.
As I see it the alternative would be:
Biomass-based energy production with the larger part of everything that grows being liquified and competition of food and energy production for agricultural land.

Riiight....
If the law of gravity doesn't apply to you, as you don't believe it, I'm sure we'll be seeing "The Incredible Flying Man!" on a news channel near us all, soon! 😀
If you choose to 'believe' in the law of gravity, but not others, why? 😕
Grrr.

"I don't believe" or possibly "I don't understand" doesn't make the rules by which the universe (seems to) work any less applicable!
People don't 'make' laws, people describe the processes that drive the universe.
Laws are so called in science because EVERY physical experiment we have tried to falsify them has failed. That doesn't mean that they are a 'perfect explanation', only that they are the BEST explanation we currently have.
As scientists (seekers after knowledge) we will (and do) attempt to break these laws so that we can formulate better, more accurate laws. If we can break the laws of thermodynamics, or gravity, or any other physical law, then great! We'll learn something!
BUT no-one has broken them yet... and not for want of trying! Breaking a law would mean Nobel prizes, fame and fortune - who wouldn't want that? No scrabbling for funding, fighting to stay in a research post, yada yada yada!
(conspiracy theorists need not reply!)
Rant over!

The video specifies watts, and so does the Lea site.
at 227% efficiency I suspect he is referring to the AC as Peak to peak
100V DC in and 100V AC rms on the same load deliver the same power
100Vac =141.4Vpeak and 282.8V ac Peak to peak
"The smallest demonstrates an input of about 4 watts to a machine returning about 19 watts, and in another instance inputting around 70 watts and outputting around 270 watts."
I do not see any other way the device would work.

"Free" is a squishy sort of word. Exactly what does it mean?
In one sense "free energy" has been used for centuries. Two examples: Sailing vessels, water wheels. The energy source is there for the taking -- the catch is capital investment, control and maintenance.
If someone found a way to utilize naturally occurring electromagnetic fields or whatever you still need capital investment, control and maintenance.
If anyone doubts this, get yourself on the crew of a transoceanic sailing craft - - then tell how "free" the wind really is.

......sustaining no net loss........
Exactly, and there is no net gain either. What is the point of a perpetualy moving object if it is neither using energy nor creating energy? It might as well be standing still.
It makes for nifty science experiments, but thats about it.
The trouble with free engery devices like the LEA is that they only work south of the equator. They can only use that thing in OZ, New Zealand, and parts of Africa and South America. Because the earth spins backwards down there. 😉
Looking at the LEA video, it seems that the DC input voltage and current are both higher that the AC output voltage and current. Smells like a net loss to me. But that is if the meter scales are the same. They appear to be, but you can't read the numbers in the video.
Not surprising that the LEA comes from Queensland. Ask any Aussie, they're all mad up there.

that be the root cause, of madness

Oooo.... I could use a busload of that.
Thanks for the photo, Luka. You can read the meters in that one.
Looks like about 180 watts in - 380 watts out. Hmmmmm....
(Slovenia, I think)

The way I see it, we have tonnes of open land all over the world.
Which in total receives an incredible amount of energy from the sun.
All you need are mirror aarays to make solar furnaces and use those to power steam turbines... it could also come in handy for deslinating water etc... without using any expensive ceramics...
This has nearly no inneficiency compared to say a solar cell... especialy if you combine it with multiple tesla turbines...

Over unity is forbidden at least this side of the Universe (other universes are speculated to abide may be under different laws, if they exist at all).
Next best is to tap nominally free energy sources, nuclear being the first runner up with thermomuclear coming second.
Renewable sources like sun, wind, tidal, geothermal are free in principle but expensive to tap, both in U$/Kw and in real estate (except geothermal).
An intriging source is vacuum energy, posited by quantum mechanics and hinted by experimental results with cassimir cavities. This is far down the line in aplicability as compared with others.
