Yeah, I think there's a difference between paying homage to an icon and trying to make a buck off someone else's work. I'm no stranger to IP (having over 20 software patents), but audio is just a hobby for me. 🙂

I like "Firstwatt F3 clone" because it not only makes it clear that my work is derivative, but also gives attribution to the original work.

I am deeply appreciative of the goodwill shown by many designers to the DIY community, though, so if there's a better way to do it, I'm all ears.
