The horns reenforce the bass in a very nice way, much more than you could ever expect from a 4" driver. Stuffing the chamber and throats is very easy to get the bass in balance with the rest of the driver. Empty isn't all that bad, and too much is really obvious.
Congratulations 6L6 on your build!
😀 😀 😀
Photos? Remind me which driver you are using? FF125wk's? Or TB bamboo?

ooh, ooh I just got an idea. If I use the table saw as my foam cutting jig it might save me a few minutes building one. I can use the fence as my stopper and the edge of the mitre gauge channel for my cut. 🙂
Sounds like a good technique. You could also use an embedded blade (with proper safety considerations) to hold the blade at 90 degrees. Styrofoam really grabs the blade but tape or glue could also be used. Running this jig against the fence sounds good to me. The same type of blocking can be used to make about six very uniform simultaneous bending cuts in a single stroke.

I love the idea of the tablesaw fence and one of the channels. Combine that with a T-square to help keep the blade straight and you will (hopefully) be unable to do anything but a straight and square cut. 🙂 🙂 🙂
6L6 - I believe you used the more expensive drivers. Can you give us a more detailed report of the sound you are getting?
Bob,
I don't get it. Do you mean that your styrofoam will hold blade as you push the foam core through it like a tablesaw?

6L6 used the FF125WK from planet10. We are in discussions thru PM's right now. He will post later I hope.
No, not identical, my horns are 30" square with a 4.25" tall (deep?) throat.
The Foamcore Cornu spiral works very well for getting surprisingly big and good bass out of such a small driver. 🙂 If you are interested in making an enclosure with this technique and materials, I recommend it!

Here you go. Cronus in background. 😀
Blade & Block
Sorry for the lighting. Just used double sided tape on the angle.
6L6, you sound disappointed ?????

I'm running a couple passes of this system on the Vifas right now. I was skeptical if they could handle full big band stuff, but they are handling everything I throw at them with flying colors. Kudos to Vifa - again !

I found they excel at big band especially brass and woodwinds. My earlier impression with Harry Connick's band was exceptional sounding, the speed and attack of the brass was really cool. I can't seem to get a good impression when playing big classical orchestras. Chamber music is great, but complex classical orchestral stuff no.
