I say to people we have the ancient stuff, science and when very lucky the truth. 0 and infinity are the truth as best I know. However we shall never meet them in our lives I suspect. Someone asked me could I concieve infinity. I said I could more easilly than I could a brickwall end to space. There is always some form of the other side. I also say infinity hasn't happened yet and maybe never will. We infer a bit of that when space seems to be a finite mass in an infinite void ( unlikely ). I was asked why the Universe expands. I said the missing antimatter is pulling it to supposed infinity. Doubtless the antimatter isn't missing really.
If we look into the sky we see two very large round things. Sun and Moon. If we see a water drop we see a near globe. That should be saying most likely we live on a ball. In 1492 someone had faith in that. As I never met the man I have to guess he did.
The did the USA land on the Moon thing is tougher. The USSR would have told us being best we can say that most likely NASA did. Of all the people to keep quiet I don't think so when the USSR. I wish NASA had used Apollo 9 or whatever to remote land the LEM on the Moon as it seems hard to think they would risk so much when 11. However as they say a vacuum is much better when trying to do it by guessing some of it. Mars having that little bit of atmosphere causes much trouble. One more Moon positive. Many countries could monitor the transmissions from the Moon and if not coming from there the games would be up. However I do suspect a bit of Photoshop of the day was used. Doubtless to keep funding good public support needed photo's of good quality. That is going to haunt them if they did.

I recently came across a question on Quora as to why there aren't any flat-earther astronauts. Then they could see first-hand what the score is. (The questioner implicitly hinted at a NASA plot to avoid revealing the truth).
Interesting answers, to the effect that it would be very difficult and expensive to train a flat-earther to be an astronaut. If you strongly believe in a flat earth, how can you then allow yourself be trained to think and work in terms of orbits, escape velocity and other celestial manoeuvres that rely on sperical bodies?

There was a private citizen and ham radio guy who built his own receive setup during the manned lunar missions and recorded what he heard to analog tape. He used to visit the large hamfests and do presentations where he played some of the audio. I went to one of the presentations in Dayton at least a dozen years ago, and talked to the guy for a while after the presentation. The transmissions were sent using unencrypted analog FM radio on about 2.6 GHz, as that was state of the art in the late 60's. Sadly he passed away several years ago.
I still meet people who think the whole moon landing thing was faked in a high tech film lab. Yes, Hollywood has the CGI tech to do this today, but in 1969, no way. The computer processing power was not good enough. In fact a mediocre smart phone of today has more processing power than ALL of NASA in 1969! Would the faker really think to purposefully fry a video camera by pointing it at the sun? Would it still fry on Earth with its atmosphere?
Simple Example......Ask a non believer to watch a re-run of an old Star Trek episode, then ask themselves if they could believe that any of it was real.
Flat earther are certainly not idiots and don't believe one second that earth is flat. Their wicked purpose and what they really enjoy is to convince other people to become idiots 😀.
What I find so funny are the people who rush to say "Flat Earth believers are idiots!" These are the same people who get so upset when you ask them how they know the earth is a globe. None have ever seen the curvature of the earth in person, very few have done any sort of experiment or verification of the curve. These are the people who simply accept what they been taught and told, and get angry at those who learned and believe something else. An easy way to feel superior with no work involved?
At least on this forum there are a number of people with some pretty solid indirect experience of the Earth's curvature and have a basis for criticism. But those who are smugly secure in their knowledge with no effort or thought? They get no respect.

A reasonable question, but I think it is the other way around. For some reason someone believes in a certain conspiracy. Then to avoid massive cognitive dissonance a cause has to be 'invented'. Since everyone knows that 'the powers that be' are inherently evil, they must be behind it all, for no other reason than that they are evil.

Nobody has to go into space to observe that the earth is round'ish. If you've ever been up in an aircraft, you can "Planely" (pun intentded) see it's curvature 🙂
There are several people video blogging their round the world trips via sailboats and such. Ordinary average people, such as the couple on La Vagabonde, YouTube channel the same. Are they all supposed to be in on this conspiracy to keep the masses blinded to the truth of a flat world? Kind of silly imo.

I can't remember, has lunar eclipse been discussed? These also seem problematic since the curve of the shadow of the earth could also be caused by the curvature of the moon, or is that flat too? Also the curve of the edge of the disc would also produce a curved shadow on the moon whether that is globular or not?
The Eclipse is just a wonderful thing . I felt a bit of a twit for not working out why we only see one side of the Moon. We see 55% I am told because there is a wobble. Forgive the hype below.

They would not have to be "in" on a conspiracy if you think about it. There is no problem sailing around a flat disc planet. How would someone sailing see the curvature from a few feet above the water? How would a sailor know if it's flat or curved? Please find something other than "ship down" as the planists explain this as simple perspective. Hint, there has been some discussion of this already in the thread.
Solar has, not sure about lunar. IMO both are very problematic for a flat earth and I have not see any good planist explanations for them.
There are numerous answers which one you believe is up to you.
Main one is Control over people and the power struggle between God/Religion vs. Atheist/science/satanist.
On a slight tangent. A man wrote a book(s) called the Bluffers Guide. On a BBC Radio 4 programme he explained we all have to do this to get on in life. His favourtie story was when he first had to bluff. He was in the North of Italy when a groupe of priests sat on the next table. As he was learning Italian these educated speakers were well worth listening to. He obviouisly showed too much interest as suddenly one said directly to him in Italian " And what do you think " ? At a loss to know what to say he came up with " What about in the South " ? After a long silence the priest said " You know he is absolutely right ". The guy had no idea what they were talking about. This I think was the start of his serries of books.
I remember in the South of France having to ask my neighbour when in a holiday villa for some help. My French is basic and his a special type. After neither of us fixing the machine we got talking. He was the typical farmer. For some reason I used the word coincidence. He said " It's a French word and if you used it correctly you would understand the concept. It's two road which must meet at a given corner. You might not see it until you arrive". I bluffed and got a prize.
